Toshiba TV/DVD combo turns on then off again.

Last night I went to turn my Toshiba 20" TV/DVD combo, MD20F51, on only to have it blink back off again. If I leave it unplugged for awhile, it will stay on for a few seconds, then shut off again. It is plugged into a normal socket and there haven't been any electrical problems nor bad weather. Can anybody help with this? It is only 2 years old.

I have same TV and the power button sometimes works and sometimes does not work. If TV is unplugged for a long time the power button usually works better for a while. DVD open/close Door Button is also malfunctioning. Occassionally it works but usually it does not. TV is 2 years old. Can buttons be fixed?

Both of my Toshiba MD14F11 televisions are out with the same problem. Has anyone figured out a solution?

I have the same problem with the same TV. Shut it off one night, went to turn it on the next day and it shut off after a few seconds. If I change power outlets it will work for 30 secs sometimes, but no more than that.

    Same model, same problem

same problem here too - and mine is 2 years old, too. Sounds like a manufacturing flaw...

I tried unplugging it for a while and plugged it back in a different socket, but still doing the same thing.

    Any other ideas?

When I turned my T.V. on yesterday afternoon, it makes the sound that it usually makes but there was no picture or sound. Usually, when I turn on the power with my Comcast remote, a red light also lights up on the cable box. Since yesterday afternoon, the red light on the cable box doesn't light up either. I tried calling Comcast and the technician had me try unplugging the cable box, the T.V., the cable cord from the wall, etc. but nothing worked. When I push the open/close button, the red light next to the button turns on for a moment and then nothing else happens.

My television/ DVD combo was working and then all of sudden it went completely off. I tried to turn the TV back on and then it run for 2 minutes and cut off. I would repeat the process several times until the TV/ DVD combo would turn off completely after 5 seconds. I also purchased this TV approx. 2 years ago and it has always played until now. Wondering if this television perhaps needs a new picture tube. They do not make televisions like they used to. Hey..they particularly don't make anything else the same either. Would love someone to help solve this problem...before I purchase a new picture tube or new TV!

My TV is 2-3 years old, same problem . no issues prior to this. I sure hope it is not dead, otherwise I/we really did not get our money's worth!

The same thing happened to me and my tv is also under 3 years old.

When the button is pushed on the remote, the powerlight on the tv lights up but the tv does not come on.

Don't know yet. I'll try keeping it off for a couple of hours and then plug it into the wall rather than the surge protector.

Try letting it sit for 15-20 minutes unplugged from the wall and maybe try another outlet depending on if u got plugged in to a power strip, possibly pulling to much power from that perticular outlet.

How do you remove text from your tv screen

I am assuming it is the closed captioning that is showing... should be a menu item to turn of CC ('Closed Caption') or SAP (Second Audio Program tends to be bilingual and not CC).
