My wife and I just bought this scooter off eBay and were informed the batteries won't charge. We have the original charger and I have tried to charge them, but the charging light does not come on when the charger is attached. I removed the cables to check the voltage and one battery is reading around 5.5 volts and the other around 5. Evidently the previous owner just quit using it and hasn't charged the batteries for quite a long time. The seller had the charger tested and was told theere were not problems and it was working properly. Is it possible to use a car battery charger to try and salvage these batteries or does it appear they need to be replaced? Would appreciate any assistance you can provide. Thanks!
If you use an automotive charger you have to charge each battery individually as they should be 12vdc hooked in series.
Clean contacts and assure yourself that each lead is charging properly. Jazzy has many different models so it impossible to know which you have. But there should be some info on the charger to tell you if your output is 24v or 2-12volt DC leads.

Yep you have a weak or bad battery. Even tho the chair looks new if they didn't take care of the batteries ie: charge regularly then the batteries went bad just sitting. I would check in your area for a battery warehouse or store that can get you 2 new batteries at a reasonable price. If there is an Interstate battery distributor or store near you the get your batteries there. Your Select uses 2 U1 batteries. Check out my tips on charging your batteries once you have the new ones put in. Hope this helps
