Hello, Sounds like a CCD failure, very costly to repair.

Try and reset the camera: Take out the battery for longer than 10 sec. And reinsert. If this doesn?t work I believe you should go back to the shop in order to exchange the camera. Good Luck

You may purchase LCD screen for your camera at www.uscamera.com.

Try the steps below on replacing the LCD screen.

1.take all screws out.
2. unsnap the case carefully.
3. slide black clips on both sides of LCD leads, both have them.
4. slide new screen into place, slide black clips back up, latch down screen.
5. replace case then screws. Done Deal.
If camera worked before it will be better now.

But if your camera still In warranty, you may call Kodak at 1.800.235.6325.

this is an extrememly common problem with the camera's firmware. The system needs to be updated. Kodak will repair it for $50. ALso sometime wiggling the zoom/lens will help open up camera.

You have a bad CCD imager. Find a repair shop that can strip a CCD from a camera with a bad lens. This is the least costly repair.

you can find that to your setting or i think if I'm not wrong there's a button to the top of your cam to turn it. For better instruction read you manual to clearly understand it

You may still be able to take pictures with your black screened Kodak camera. This problem occurs in the line of Kodak EasyShare digital camera models.

When you turn on your Kodak EasyShare digital camera, turn off the LiveView function. Take a picture using the small-windowed viewfinder (this is not the LCD screen). Also, try zooming in and out.

After taking a picture, review the picture to see if the picture has been taken. Then turn on LiveView and occasionally the LCD screen should no longer be showing a black screen.

C653 Camera worked great, went to take a pic and it went dead red light and green light flashes, but no action, changed batteries still same ... any ideas

I've the same problem and was able to remove the screen easily: The connector strips can be unsnapped by pulling ahead the little black parts on the left and right.
But where did you get a replacement for the cracked screen?
