OK..I spoke to a representative at the Toshiba service center and was given the most silly procedure to follow....but IT WORKED.

Here goes:
1. Unplug the unit.
2. Remove the batteries from the remote
control
3. Press and hold each button on the remote for two seconds. Not all at was, but one at a time. Do EVERY button.
4. Put the batteries back in, plug in the unit and away she goes!!!!!!

Toshoba guessed that there is a static charge in the remote that is discharged using this method.

I know.....IT WORKED for me.

Thats stupid. i took mine apart... the motor that turns your disc is probably broken, thats what mine was. You need a small phillips screwdriver, a precision screwdriver kit, and a replacement motor. It is really easy to take apart.

Shows unkown disc when i put in a burned dvd-r but it will play a store boughten disc what disc format is compadible with yhis unit

This model DVD player can play the following disc formats:

DVD-Video (Region 1 or relevant region coded store-bought movies)

DVD-R (must be finalised on appropriate recording equipment for compatible playback)

CD-R (for jpeg/mp3 media files)

CD-RW (for audio such as mp3)

music CD (such as store-bought albums)

This player will NOT accept DVD-RW/+RW discs, or Blu-Ray.

I hope this helps you a tiny bit.

Disc shows loading then error on all dvd disc

Put a cd in the dvd player if it is marked that it plays cds... if it plays the cd your dvd laser is shot... cheaper to get a new unit. if it doesn't play a cd try cleaning the laser. and last but not the last thing try unplugging it for a short time then plug it back in... if nothing works get the one tool that fixs most everything...... take it to office depot and they can recycle the stuff inside and help keep the earth green...then onto wally world.

I have a sanyo 3 disc dvd changer. says no play

first of all you need to check your manuel for dvd's that can be played as in burnt. as of right no cd/dvd changers can play dvd that are burnt. cd's can be played if it states on player. only normal cd's and dvd's can be played. also check your disc for marks on them like fingerprints etc. if you want invest in a great player like sony, pioneer, i have no problem with these players.
