It means your boot sequence is first booting your floppy drive or your hard disk is not detected.i think you should check the cmos set-up.you can set it by pressing delete while the pc is booting.disable floppy drive seek.also the boot sequence.the os installed is maybe corrupted, is also one of the problem. refer to the manual if you have.

One short beep one long beep continuous and power green led flashes continuos

I would say you have a failed memory (RAM) module. Probably a module in one of the secondary slots since the computer is able to POST and will attempt to boot.

Bios rom checksum error

Hai, That message dosn't sound like an error. i suspect the ram is faulty/incompatible and the pc won't boot because of it.

BIOS CHECKSUM ERROR

Normally a bios checksum error is caused by a dead cmos battery. In a laptop that can be a pain - some are specialty batteries, some soldered directly to the motherboard, etc.

Start the laptop and enter the bois, there usually will be something to tell you what key to press, most of the time it is f2 or f10. Once in the bios set the date, time and boot order, then save and exit the bios. If it boots ok then try to determine what type of battery and it's location on the laptop to replace it.

If you let me know the make and model of laptop I will try to help determine that info and also where you can get the battery. That will more than likely be from eBay....

Hope this helps

Bios failure, or what?

Hi there.
Try clearing the cmos
d015d7b.jpg<<<<< you will see in the picture a plastic jumper (in this case coloured green), move it to the other position and hit the on/off button, then put it back in its original position and power up the machine again. Hopefully the issue will have been sorted. If there is no jumper remove the battery for an hour and make sure the power cord is removed from the back before you clear the cmos

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

Bios check sum error

this is a common problem wirth asus motherboards the only thing is to re set the bios to do this romove the power plug from pc wait for 30 second - 1 minute for the static to be removed from board then find the bios battery and remove this then find the jumper that says clr cymos or bios then place the jumper on the opposite two then press on button then place jumper bace to orraginal possition then place the power cord back to tower psu then reboot pc then all will be fine replace battery in the holder enter bios then hunt for all relevent thing like first boot should be hdd then cdrom then floppy drive this is only if you have got one.

to set-up bios properly please e-mail me with your motherboard details and I'll e-mail you back with a list of things you should do to get the bios back to good working order.

Biostar P4M900-M7 SE BIOS ROM Checksum Error

The bios upgrade procedure stopped at half , leaving the bios corrupted. The computer now cannot do a regular boot procedure, this is the reason why it cannot recognise some device. If you are still able to boot from floppy, you can restart bios upgrade procedure from floppy. Just download floppy version upgrade and re do setup. Even if you do not find latest bios version, just download a floppy upgrade that is working, so that you can restart your machine regularly , and then do the update to latest version.
If you are not able to complete the bios setup, the only way to fix your motherboard will be flashing the CMOS chipset with a chip programmer device that will reinstall bios straight into cmos chipset.
You can have this done at the service point, in this case consider also replacing your motherboard.
