Question about IBM ThinkPad X41 Tablet PC

1 Answer

Erratic mouse/pointer behavior

The mouse pointer drifts to sys tray and right clicks on clock.  Behavior occurs most frequently when trying to run things.  Have been to Lenovo's website and installed System updates, firmware and even Microsofts fix KB920295 without resolution.  IBM feels it's software related however hard drive was swapped between laptops and the problem stayed with the laptop.

I am having the same problem. I am glad I found someone that is experiencing the same problem because I need to know how to get this fixed. Right inthe middle of doing something the pointer will activate the Date and time Properties. I then have to Close that window and hope it does not happen again, but it always does. Please if there is something that can be done please let us know.

Same thing here, unfortunately warranty is over and I am away from USA-so I guess I have a problem... Anything else apart from changing the planar card as solution?

I ended up calling IBM support (after many calls to them) and since the Tablet was still under warranty I sent it out for repair and they ended up replacing the planar card. Tablet was returned and I have had no further issues with the mouse.

Unable to move cursor on lenovo x61

Are you trying to move the cursor with the trackpoint, a usb mouse, or the pen? Have you tried restarting your computer? Restarting would likely solve the problem. If you can't move the cursor to the start menu, you can open the start menu with the windows key, use the arrow keys to navigate to the power options. Use enter to select the power options and shut down or restart the computer. If this does not work, press and hold the power button for 5 or 10 seconds to force the computer to shut down.

What happened before this occurred? Did you install any programs or updates recently, or change any settings on your computer?

Lenovo Thinkpad x60 automatic curor open

When your cursor is moving, while you don't touch your mose, check if the underside is completely clean. And with a wireless mouse, please put your phone somewhere else, not to close to the computer. Then let us know if it helps.

My laptop is Hp TouchSmart tx2,the problm is :-The pointer moves unwnted icon it click by it self.

The problem is very simple. The sensitivity of the mouse pad is too high in your laptop i guess. Try adjusting the sensitivity of the mouse. Go to control panel-> mouse options->mouse sensitivity. Try changing the double clicking speed, mouse sensitivity etc and check your mouse operation now.

When I click the mouse pointer it doesn't work I have no choice but to use the right mouse buttons to make selections. How do I fix this issue?

Hello,
Usually this problem can be easily solved by accessing and changing your mouse settings. On your PC desktop, click "start", then click "control panel", then click "mouse", then on the "buttons" tab you'll see an option that says, "button configuration". That button needs to be adjusted according to which side of the mouse you'd like the pointer to work from. Once you set the side you'd like, make sure you click, "OK" to seal the deal!
Hope this helps.
Sincerely, CBR2009

Lenovo x60 wireless problem

Verify that the radio is enabled.
It is possible to disable the transmitter of the wireless card without Device Manager showing any problems.
Note: Follow the instructions provided to enable wireless card.
  • Most wireless cards will put an icon in the system tray (the line of icons in the lower right corner of your screen). Right click this icon and it may have a menu option to enable/turn on the wireless radio.
  • Some systems come with a Wireless Radio switch to disable the wireless radios. The wireless radio switch is usually located on the front side of the machine. If you are having difficulties with wireless connections, make sure the Wireless Radio switch is set in the On position.
  • Check for association to an Access Point.
If you double-click the previously mentioned system tray icon, the configuration utility of the wireless card will appear. This utility will be able to show the status of the wireless card, showing what channel the card is using and what signal strength is being received. It may be difficult to maintain a connection if signal strength is low due to either interference or distance. For example, interference can be caused by 2.4GHz cordless phones, other Access Points in the area, and physical structures such as load bearing walls or metal partitions.
    Note:
The utility can be used to configure the wireless card settings, but if using Windows XP Zero Configuration or Access Connections, you will need to use those programs to actually configure the wireless card as they will overwrite the setting of the utility.

Slow computer

The reason may be one or more problems acting together. The problem nowadays is that it is very difficult and time consuming to monitor and take care of your Lenovo PC. Even experienced users find it hard to perform such tasks on regular basis because you might need to prepare a huge amount of time and energy to deal with each issue separately.

If you want to fix the problems more efficiently, try the Lenovo speed up program, available here: http://www.speeduplenovo.com/

Cheers!
