Question about Zenith A36B41W 36" TV

1 Answer

High pitch squeeling noise/no picture.

The TV was given to me by a women I did some work for.  The women said that when watching the TV it suddenly clicked, she lost picture and the squeeling noise started with a burning electronics smell.  Ever since then it doesnt switch on and when plugged in just has the squeeling noise with the burning smell.  I noticed when I unplug the set the squeeling noise doesn't stop right away, it just seems to fade away. I have taken the back of the TV off to see if there is any smoke that might indicate where the problem is and didnt see any.  After reading some of the info off other sites and speaking with others I was hoping this is easy to fix, like plugging in another part into the board. Please let me know, Im pretty handy, but please respond in easy terms and directions. Any solutions you give me I understand you are not liable for.

I found a small curcuit that was burned and tried to remove it the blue top that was connecting the 2 wires running into it crumbed and came off.  I seperated the 2 wires and plugged the TV in and it is now working fine.  Any explaination for this? Is this just temporary?  Let me know.

I am having the exact same problem. My Zenith 36" (model A36B41W) 'popped', squealed, and died all at the same time with a burning smell. This happened once before and after $120 the repairman had put in a $10 part (CX3220) and it worked like new. Now its almost a year later and it happened again. After reading the last post I did the same thing they did; I cut out part CX3220 from the circuit board and everything seems to work fine. I only just did this an hour ago, so I have no idea of how long this 'fix' will last, but seeing as how I was ready to throw it away anyway, its no big loss if it craps out on me again. My main concern is that of safety. Does anyone know if this is a safe solution, or should I worry about the TV overheating and bursting into flames (I like to sleep with the TV on)? Also, just because I like to fix things anyway, does anyone know where I can buy replacement parts for the circuit board of my TV?

Your problem is due short circuit in horizontal section of  tv

your problem & smell is due to horizontal section failure.

in that section

1 flyback transformer & horizontal output transistor might be faulty.

but remember to check power supply is normal other wise it may fail again.

for skilled technician it is not a major problem &easy to fix at fair cost.

good luck.

Sounds like either the CCFL for your LCD TV has blown (It's basically a miniature florescent tube) or the inverter that drives it has given up.

Have a look on Ebay for replacement parts and to see if you feel confident enough to tackle the job yourself.

WHILE WATCHING MY TV TONIGHT I HEARD A LOUD POP AND NOW NO PICTURE JUST BLINKING RED LIGHT

10 blinks for this tv is not always an A Board issue. It can be a problem with the power board as well. A technician should look at the set to dertermine where the problem lies otherwise it is just a guessing game of inni minni miny moe.
