Hi! I bought a Wacom Cintiq 21UX some 4 years ago and it's been working very well until just last week. At the start, pressing the power button won't turn it on until after a few more tries; later on, it won't turn off. Other than that, it works just fine. I reported the problem to the local Wacom distributor and they said they don't do on-site repairs, and that it needs to be sent back to Japan to get it fixed -whole thing will cost me close to $1,400 (including shipping)! That's more than a third of the cost I bought the Cintiq for! That said, I'd appreciate any help anyone can give to save me from spending a great deal of money.
My cintiq 21UX had a problem.
Pen worked, but there was no picture.
FIRST
I re-installed newest software
Unplugged power cables. Rebooted my apple.
Didn't work.
THEN
Deleted all wacom drivers from apple, unplugged screen and worked with one screen. Then re-installed everything. Nothing happend.
AFTER THAT
...all hope was gone.
Then I went behind my apple. There was cintiq's owe screen cable and two adapters in it. I Took adapters apart and put them back. Instantly after that picture came back to my Cintiq 21ux.
Sorry, bad english.
Hope that I can help.
Hi Joni Lu: I had the exact same problem with my Cintiq 21 UX. Mine is similarly, about 5 years old. I called every where looking for an authorized or unauthorized repair shop... but to no avail. I finally called Wacom tech support and they told me the unit had to be shipped to Vancouver Washington to be repaired in a "clean" room because of dust. Knowing the expense that would incur (I'm in Toronto Canada), I deliberated for a few days before deciding to open it myself. The reasoning being I could see the back of the power button plate through the air vents in the back. I don't think the power button assembly was part of the sealed screen assembly. First I made sure it was unplugged. Then I lay it flat on it's front and took off all the screws. There's a copper foil that covers the back of the power button and screen controls assembly. After lifting it off I jiggled the wires, unplugged and plugged the wire connectors for the power button and the screen control sections and made sure all the screws were tightened. After replacing the back and plugging the power plug in, I tested the power button... and LO AND BEHOLD it worked perfectly!! Cross my fingers, it's been an hour now it's still working. I think I may have saved myself 3 grande by taking this initiative. Hopefully this helps Joni_Lu.
Hi, I have a cintiq 15x (I know we are talking 21ux here but I'm running out of options) basically it was originally displaying certain colours wrong, and now the monitor won't display anything. Know what the problem could be or how I go about a repair? Thanks
Before you start taking anything apart, may I offer a different solution?
I too have a Cintiq that I have been using for years, and then one day, it stopped working for me.
After the panic passed, : ), I researched the cost of a repair, etc.
The first thing I did, because it was the least expensive option, $ 75, not including shipping, was to replace the power brick/adapter that the screen plugs into, which in turn plugs into the outlet.
That did the trick.
Hope this helped.
