typically music burned from a computer using the windows media player will play in almost anything. format should be + or - R
WMA format plays in just about anything

Check for a "jammed" button. They use a little rubber membrane behind buttons and over time they do wear out. It is possible to push a button on the corner, make it shift enough to jam behind the faceplate & hard to see. Just push the button and see if it pops back like the rest of the buttons on the unit. If you go to an car audio install shop they have tons of leftover slide removal tools. Just ask them for a pair. The nice shops will just give them to you without charging.
