Question about Lexmark T420d Laser Printer

1 Answer

T420 error lights

When I print to the T420 it will work fine for a period of time and then all the lights on the panel will begin to flash. The only way to reset the printer to ready after this occurs is to power it down. After restarting the T420 the same scenario will eventually occur.

Secondary error lights - Ready/Data + Error

Tertiary error lights - Toner low + Load / Remove Paper + Press Continue

Any ideas as to what is causing this problem?

Thank You,

This will occur while printing. It's not happening at a regular interval but rather random. It may be fine for a few print jobs and then during the middle of the next job the lights will all flash and then the printer will stop. No special application causes the problem...when it happens it doesn't matter where it was sent from. Might even choke on a test page.

I gave it a try. The wheel was a bit worn and cleaning it gave it much better grip. But unfortunately the problem remains. I printed 3 test pages without a problem and then on the 4th try it failed with all the lights flashing on the printer.

Does this occur after while, during or after printing?

from what application are you printing?

sounds like the print you are sending may be too big for the memory of the printer, or it can not recognize the file type.

Take out the paper tray get an alcohol pad or any cleaner that doesn't leave any residue ie: windex, cleaner degreaser etc...

clean the tire ( big half moon on bottom of machine, it may be easier if you stand it on it's back, it will be on the left. do not try to remove, just clean it as and where is, try to do the whole thing sliding the rag back and forth.

Very bad design with this machine you have to take it apart to change the tire, I never have I only do this procedure once in awhile and it works. Tire is slipping, needs to have a better grip, by cleaning it you remove, dust, paper dust, grime etc....

Your last chance may be to SAND it, yes, sanding w/ a MILD sandpaper to give it the rough edge it needs, you may also find a rubber restorer in an auto parts store.

Ohterwise just gonna have to replace the tire.

    Good luck.

you are looking for a quick fix, it's not going to happen.

    Change the tires.

I thought I was being helpful for suggesting a few ideas but apparently you want a no hassle fix.

Stylus r300 printing orange photos why

Follow these steps to clean the print head from the printer's control panel:
1. Make sure the printer is turned on but not printing, and the red
b error light is off.
If the red light is flashing or on, you may need to replace the ink cartridge.
2. Press the down button to highlight More Options, then press OK.
3. Use the up or down button to highlight Head Cleaning, then press OK.
4. To begin cleaning, press OK.
While cleaning, the printer makes noise and you see a progress bar on the control panel
display. Cleaning takes about 30 seconds.
Caution: Do not turn off the printer or interrupt the cleaning process.
5. When the cleaning is done, run a nozzle check to confirm the print head nozzles are
clean.
Make sure letter-size plain paper is loaded in the printer, then press Stop. The nozzle check pattern prints.
6. If the pattern has gaps or missing dots, press Stop to clean the print head again.
If the nozzle check pattern looks correct, press OK to finish.

Note: Run nozzle check at least three consecutive times. If you do not see any improvement and you have replaced the ink cartridges, your product may require service.

C45 how to clean nozzels

You can print the print head using the Control Panel buttons;
1. Make sure that the fontp.gif power light is on and that the font28.gif error light is off. 2. Hold down the font28.gif maintenance button for three seconds. The printer starts cleaning the print head and the fontp.gif power light begins flashing. Important - Never turn off the printer while the fontp.gif power light is flashing. Doing so may damage the printer. 3. When the fontp.gif power light stops flashing, print a nozzle check pattern to confirm that the head is clean.

Answer Part 1 of 2

An error has occurred in the printer. The number of flashes indicates the type of error, as outlined below. Check the cause and take appropriate action.
Two flashes: Out of paper or paper feed error
Reload the paper correctly and press the RESUME/CANCEL button.
Three flashes: Paper jam
If paper has jammed in the printer, clear the jam, reload the paper in the printer correctly and press the RESUME/CANCEL button.
See Paper Jams
Four flashes: Ink tank is not installed properly
Open the Print Head Cover and check whether an ink tank is installed. If an ink tank is installed, push the button of the ink tank, and reinstall the ink tank properly.
Five flashes: No Print Head installed, or Print Head failure
Install a Print Head.
When the error continues, contact a Canon service representative.
Eight flashes: Waste ink absorber almost full
Ink used for cleaning is absorbed in a waste ink absorber placed in the printer. Eight flashes indicate that the waste ink absorber is nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error so that you can continue printing.
Important
If this error occurs, replacement of the waste ink absorber and maintenance of the printer are required. Canon recommends to contact a Canon service representative as soon as possible. Once the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, it cannot be printed until the Waste ink tank is exchanged.

Nine flashes: A specified period of time has lapsed without receiving a response from a digital camera or digital video camcorder / The digital camera or digital video camcorder connected is not compatible with this printer

Epsom cx3200 off brand ink refill

Make sure the print head nozzles are not clogged. You may need to clean the print head. This unclogs the nozzles so they can deliver ink properly. Print head cleaning uses ink, so clean it only if quality declines.

When you don't turn on your EPSON CX3200 for a long time, the print quality can decline. It's a good idea to turn on your EPSON CX3200 at least once a month to maintain good print quality.

1. Make sure the EPSON CX3200 is turned on but not printing, and the Error light is off.
If the Error light is flashing or on, you may need to replace an ink cartridge.
2. Press the left Menu button on the control panel several times until you see Cleaning and then press the Copy button.
Cleaning takes about 30 seconds, during which the EPSON CX3200 makes some noise and the Operate light flashes. Never turn off the EPSON CX3200 while the Operate light is flashing, unless the EPSON CX3200 hasn't moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes. setViewedFAQCookie(14082, 31605);
