On my other computer (a couple of states away) when I connected my
Sansa m230 to the PC, I could see the MP3 files. On my new PC I see a
fancy m230 icon, and a Record folder, but no MP3 files. What's up?
And how can I change this? I'm guessing there's a setting, since the
files still exist. Thanks.
We have this exact same problem. I bought my dad a Sansa M230. I loaded it with songs, using my laptop just fine. Then, I went to show him how to use it on his computer (he lives an hour away from me) and you could see the player icon and a record folder but no songs. It would show that 1/2 the internal memory was being used but not show what was there. We tried opening WMP and syncing to that but it wouldn't allow syncing (the option wasn't clickable).
I'm not sure how his WMP is configured. I'm sure it's just whatever it defaults to when loaded which I would think would include MP3's. So, where do you check the configuration? Is that just where you check which file types you want WMP to be the default player for?We have this exact same problem. I bought my dad a Sansa M230. The easiest way to delete songs from it will be to connect it to your computer-> Open the mp3 folder and select the songs you want to delete. Hit shift+del to delete them. Then close the window, use the safely remove hardware to stop the device and disconnect it from your computer.
Try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilities from the manufacturer?s website. Make sure that you back your music up first because when you do this you are setting it back to factory settings. Then add music this way and see if it is works: 1. Free a USB port on your desktop computer. Now, grab the USB cable for your SanDisk Sansa MP3 player and connect the player to your computer. 2. Wait for your computer to find and recognize the player. This may take a few moments. Once you receive a confirmation message, open your computer and scan the icons for the SanDisk MP3 player. 3. Open the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player on your computer. The music files that you currently have saved to the player?s memory are displayed. 4. Open a folder containing music files that is stored in your desktop computer?s memory. Scan the files for songs that you want to transfer to the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player. 5. Left-click on a song file and drag to the SanDisk Sansa window. Drop the file and let your computer complete the transfer. The transferred file appears at the bottom of your music list. 6. Unplug your SanDisk Sansa player from your computer. Turn the player on and allow the file transfer to update to the internal memory of the MP3 player.
1. connect it to your computer (through usb) 2. go to "my computer" 3. go to sansa (which should have appeared in "my computer") 4. select the songs you want to delete and click DEL (or drag them into the trash can)
When connected to your computer, go to your My Computer folder, and right click on your Mp3 player. You should see "Format Device". This wipes the entire thing. All music will be gone, but it might reset it.
You should be able to modify and delete playlists/songs by connecting the player to your computer and accessing the files by going into my computer and selecting the player drive.
Your SanDisk Sansa does not allow you to delete files from within the player.
Instead I recommend that you follow the steps below to delete the music
You have to make sure that the device is on MSC mode...then make sure your device is plug in to the computer..Then go to programs - accesories - windows explorer, find the SanDisk in my computer, go to media, music and delete them from there. Either under sync panel in your windows media player it will show your music when it's connected. just click the plus signs for what song you need to get rid of, right click and click delete. Hope this helps
P.S.Please rate accordingly... Thank You Computerrep
You cannot see the music under Windows Media Player?
If you transferred the music on another computer and the music does not "reside" on the PC you are connecting to, you will not be able to see them.
You can go to My Computer and double-click on the Device Name (Sansa m230) to open up the contents to "manually" manage the music.
Best of Luck.
