Question about Pioneer VSX-305 Receiver
Pioneer vsx-305 has a light buzzing sound, coming from speakers i believe, for a few years now. still puts out good sound. now i hit power button, i hear a clicking in the back left, but it won't power up to allow functions to work (radio, cd). also, the main display does not come on either showing radio channel or other function in use. my wife says she turned the unit on the shelf to see if speakers were attached to play some tunes and then it wouldn't turn on properly. now i see where it doesn't power up. red standby light on power button does disappear when I click power on, but i hear the click in the back and get nothing. unit about 8 years old.
Alright as odd as this solution may sound its worth the 5 seconds it would take to try it. My exact model receiver ran into the same problem. Standing the unit up on end on its left side restored power to the unit and it started functioning fully again. To the best of my searching and many hours poking around inside the unit it appears to be a connection problem with two of the larger capacitors inside the unit.
