How to clean the domes on hearing aids

Take the domes off, wash them out or use a pipe cleaner to poke out the wax. If you have washed them, make sure they are thoroughly dry before you put them back on. When you put them back on make sure they are firmly on the receiver tip or you will be taking a trip to A&E to get it removed from your ear canal.

R. Hearing aid has died for the 5th time. Purchased through HearX.

RIC instruments are quite delicate, the receivers often fail, however it is a quick fix to replace them. Have you tried a drying kit, a drying kit is essential to maintain RIC or RITE instruments particularly during the summer months. Go back, get the receivers changed and ask for a drying kit.

It's exactly like the guy says on the left: Siemens Pure 501 RIC Serial No RW52119 The above unit is in the right ear and periodically does not produce any sound. The RIC cord has been replaced once and...

The receiver, the piece you call the cord is either blocked with wax or dead. Check the very tip of the receiver for wax detrius, if there is some remove it and see if you can hear. If not you may need to get a new receiver.

It could be a receiver issue, the cord, it might be a faulty receiver or alternatively it could be plugged with wax or badly affected by moisture. Receiver issues are relatively common with Siemens, if you have cleaned out the tip and are confident it is not a moisture issue, the receiver has failed. it is an easy fix and your audi should be able to change it out on the spot.

I find that my BTE open fit hearing aid solves a lot of problems but the fitting seems to creep away from the ear drum making it difficult to hear. I find I am continually pusshing the tube back to where...

There are a couple of solutions that you can try, ask your audi to fit a sport lock or change the tip he is using. If that does not work, think about investing in a set of custom made tips. A sport lock is a piece of plastic that attaches to the tubing, when you place the tip in your ear this piece of plastic is folded around the inside of your outer ear along the bowl.It aids retention of the tip.

It is a common problem, Siemens do seem to suffer it more though. Your audi should keep receivers on hand in order that he can fix it on the spot. Keep your ears clean and dry, clean and dry your aids every night. The use of a drying kit is ideal, but make sure you are changing your tablet enough or re-charging your crystals in the microwave, whichever it is.

Can come out when i remove glsses or take off jumper or hat

Hi Jan3630,

The instruments you show in the picture appear to be ear inserts rather than custom ear mold. Customs can also be small.

You may consider having a local Hearing Health Care Professional advise you as to the feasibility of replacing your sound tubes and inserts with Custom ear-molds.

These will have a better chance of staying in the ear when you are doing the activities you described. Please advise if you find info helpful. Thanks for contacting FixYa.com
