Hotpoint Fridge Freezer makes a lough cracking / popping nose

Hello, I have now had 2 engineer visits. The noise doesnt happen when they are here and then (of course) occurs shortly after they leave. The first chap moved a little pipe from vertical to horizontal and the 2nd engineer has tightened the back panel of the machine. Now on hold for some 40 min to ask someone to come out again. It also whistles and makes a sort of bubbling groaning noise. Either it's haunted or there is a fault! It is under a year old and specifically a 77684. Hopeful thanks for suggestions....Claudine

Think the door was left cracked open all day while we were at work, so it had to work to keep cold all day- and now it's making this horrible noise and not really cold as it should be. the noise is coming from the back, there are a few things that could be causing the problem. If the unit seems louder when the compressor starts, it's probably a normal sound. The compressor starts with a high pressure, but as the pressure balances, the noise should become normalized. The compressor is in a black case with no visible moving parts. It's located at the back of the refrigerator near the bottom and has wires and a bunch of tubes going to it. If it's humming, or making a steady noise, and your refrigerator is still not cooling properly, there could be a problem with one or more various components. If the compressor is making noise, there's probably no repairing it. You'll have to replace it. This is often a very costly job and needs to be done by someone with the necessary EPA certification to work on sealed systems.

Liners are not able to be replaced. Will need to buy a new unit if the liner is a problem.

SOURCE: GE ADORA DSS25KSRDSS FREEZER FAN NOISE

Unplug your unit and check the fan blade by manually rotating it with your finger, check if the blade is not touching the fan blade frame. Check if the screws are not loose, align the fan blade and re tight the fan blade screws.

SOURCE: Loud humming noise as fridge is running

Sounds like the freezer fan is rubbing some wires or possible some foam insulation around the fan. I would look into the freezer compartment fan and go from there. The fan Will Shut off when you open the doors. Let me know how you make out and if you need anymore help.

Thanks,
Bill

SOURCE: loud noise from the freezer side

The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.

Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).

Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.

Hotpoint frost free fridge freezer the fridge not working but freezer is

Hi Reginald

Most refrigerator / freezer units chill the fridge area by venting some fraction of the very cold air from the freezer into the fridge compartment through a channel that has a mechanical air valve in it. In this way, it can control the chilled air flow, and aim for the set temperature, all the way down, in some cases, to freezing, or even colder, on the fridge side.

That vent unit, depending on your model, sill be somewhere in the wall that separates the freezer from the fridge. What can happen is that moisture condenses into the louver that slides to control the airflow, it freezes, and then system is stuck, since it's cold on the freezer side, and this keeps the louver frozen stuck. If that is the case, shutting the unit off for a while may recover function, though getting it to where ice is melting in an interior wall may be more risk of food spoilage than you'd want. Otherwise, use a search engine to look for 'how to test freezer / refrigerator vent in make/model', and you'll likely come across all sorts of youtube and step-by-step tutorials.

Good Luck!

Heaps of frost/ice in freezer: Whirlpool wro34uw

You probably need to fully defrost the freezer. Switch it off for at least 24 hours and collect the water as it defrosts. Do not try to scrape it as it can damage the product. The cracking and poping noises are most likely the product trying to auto defrost. It is probably too iced up for Auto defrost to work which is why you need to fully defrost. Good luck.

I have a hotpoint fridge bottom freezer and after I had filled the freezer with my shopping yesterday, it started making a shreeking noise, I thought maybe it needed defrosting, which it did, so I...

If both section are not working as required then its compressor fault. The noise you noticed must be from compressor related parts, that are fan,the motor and relay. But If freezer is getting over cold and friezed and fridge section not getting cold then Its defrost problem. Try manual defrost by unplugging the refrigerator from main power outlet for 4 hours then reconnect it and check, if the same problem is noticed again,. If yes then its defrost board problem. The defrost board located in the back of fridge section. You can get required parts from www.repairclinic.com or from online sears part site. ------------- Thank you.

Hotpoint side by side has recently bugun making a lot of noise

Check for frost in the freezer compartment that may suggest a defrost problem which would cause it to run for extended times and make more noise. The other possibility is that if the fan is making a up and down type of noise, it will need a new fan in the freezer section due to a faulty bearing in the motor.

My Zanussi fridge/freezer is making a funny little noise

What you may be noticing is the system going through a defrost cycle. Check the time of the day that you notice this event. If it happens at the same times it could be a normal situation if at all other times normal temperatures are being maintained. A popping sound can be caused by thermal expansion during the defrost.
