I bought the iRiver X204 and when I plugged it in to my USB port, windows vista says it needs drivers installed but can't locate them. I have tried it on a computer with windows xp which and the error message is the device has malfunctioned... I returned it to the store and got another one which is exactly the same. Any suggestions?

Try restarting the computer with the device unplugged, and then when you are in Windows and everything has loaded, plug your Web Cam into a "different" USB port than you originally had it plugged into.
these drive require a usb 2.0 port. If you are using XP and do not have a 2.0 port in your computer you may want to get a USB 2.0 pci card this will help. if you are using vista, it should install the driver automatically. also do not use it on a hub plug it into a usb port on the motherboard or a powered card.
Hi I'm Sathiya. I use Windows Vista Home Basic platform. I recently bought a TATA Indicom Plug to Surf connection. It had issues with drivers. I went to Tata indicom site and downloaded the latest driver for Vista. After installing the drivers, my connection is working fine. Make sure that you choose the right version.
I have my HP OfficeJet T45xi working with Vista Ultimate. I used a cable coverter to switch to USB. I must install the printer with the USB cord unattached. Install as T40xi whose driver comes with Vista. Set to USB port 1 or 2. Plug USB into USB port 1 or 2 (only ones of six USB ports that worked for me). When Windows discovers the printer do not let it install the printer and tell it to not try again.
Yes, try running a format from your computer to the IRiver with it plugged into the USB port. I have done this with several friends MP3 players and it works great. In other words plug your MP3 player into your computer as you usually do and from windows or dos in your accessories run a regular format of the MTP portable device or whichever drive dos says it is. Then presto you can again load music or whatever your MP3 player take into it again.
First, I'm going to assume this controller is usb and not wireless, blue-tooth, or gameport.
Second, if you have a usb mouse or keyboard and it works fine, then its going to be that you need to find vista drivers for your device and install the drivers before plugging it in. If you have another usb device, try plugging it into the usb port and if it doesnt work either your computer is faulty or you need to update it.
Vista is rather fickle when it comes to drivers and what not. Instead of windows coming out with the drivers, they let other people come out with them then they endorse those drivers. Try going to logitechs site, they are usually extremely helpful and easy to navigate. You can probably find drivers for your device easily. If you need any more help, let me know, I'll find you a few other solutions.
