If your trying to only print form a tri-color in cartage and you dont have a black cartage in the 2nd slot as well you might try doing the following

I am not sure whether u can print only using one cartridge(color) with this All-in-One. Check out the following steps nd let me know if they have helped.

1. Remove the Black cartridge from the All-in-One.

2. Open HP Director.

3. Click Settings -->> Print Settings --->> Printer Toolbox.

4. Under the Configuration tab, select One Color cartridge from the drop down list and click apply.

Now,try printing.

My mfc-240c won't print red, even with a new cartdrige.

Try running a few cleanings on the color.

Press the ink button and select cleaning,, do about five cleanings. Print the ink quality test page (from the ink button as well) and see the quality if it improved.

If it still doesnt print its possible the ink is clogged and may need servicing to replace the printer head

My black ink ran out so I replaced the ink

Hi:
I have used the printer series that you have for years, and once in awhile, I get a new cartridge that won't immediately print. Often, there is just a bit of dried ink residue on the print head, and that won't allow the cartridge to work correctly.

Some simple things to try are :

1) Remove the black cartridge. and take a damp paper towel and gently swab the print head area. Next, apply some pressure to the sides of the black cartridge, until you see black ink oozing out of the print head. Repeat if needed. Once the ink starts flowing, blot off the excess, and install the cartridge.

If you can't get ink to flow, then the cartridge might be bad. Most of them have an expiration date on the packaging.

I have just replaced the color ink cartdrige in my HP Deskjet 722c printer and I tried to print a color picture in bond paper and it was a total mess

A new ink needs a little cleaning before using. Just dab lightly on a damp paper towel and look for a inch log stripe of each color on the towel. If all colors are not there it won't print very well and you should return the cartridge. Some have reported no yellow in their new cartridges.

Remove (r) color cartridge out of ink

I'm sorry, there is no way to bypass this. You must have a cartridge that is not empty in the R slot in order for that particular model of printer to work.

My printer wont print in color & its a new color ink cartridge

have the printer preferences been changed accidentally to print in greyscale? Is the cartridge installed correctly? Now and again if the cartridges are opened and not installed straight away the ink dries up in the nossel and clogs the printer head, easily rectified with some cleaning solution. Cartridges also go out of date. hope this helped

Color doesn't print before and after printhead replacment.

No, its not possible. The problem is likely the ink has dried in the purge unit or one of the small tubes going to the waste pad. The new printhead is the fix for the ERROR 41. The problem is there is sometimes other things that go bad, purge unit being just one example. One of the biggest problems with inkjets is that consumers leave their printers alone for long periods of time and the ink dries and clogs the tiny hoses inside. Even the ink cartdriges are just ink tanks, I have replaced those many times and have seen bad ones that just won't flow, replaced the inks and it works fine. You also have to put in the id# for the printhead after you replace it. Did you do that or get the instructions?
