The scanner blub mirror needs to be cleaned and possibly the underneath side of the scanner glass. The scanner is not finding the marks to make it function correctly.

HP 2210 Printer - Scanner sounds like it is stuck

It's possible that the mylar strip has become contaminated with ink and/or dust or is loose.

The mylar strip runs horizontally along the length of the printer. It threads through a slot in the carriage and is connected by hooks on both sides. Make sure that it is still connected on both sides.

If it is connected properly on both sides, try cleaning it. Gently rub a moistened lint-free cloth back and forth across the strip. The easist method is to squeeze the strip between your thumb and forefinger along with the damp cloth.

If the strip is not loose and cleaning it does not cure the problem, you'll probably need help from a certified HP technician.

How Do Stop Scanner Bulb From Warming Up?

There are 3 possible causes to this problem.

First dirty scanner optics this causes scanner to unable to get to the home position. This step should be done first. You will need to remove the ADF assy, left, right covers, remove control panel, remove control panel base cover, remove 8 screws 4 on top and 4 under scanner assy ( One screw on each side of scannerie front, left, right, back) Then carefully remove the glass. You should now be able to see the scanner assy, you will need a small flat screwdriver to disengage the tabs holding the scanner cover in place. Clean all mirrors with DRY q-tip. Reassemble and test.

2nd After cleaning scanner optics still doesn't resolve problem next step is to replace scanner formatter. You will need to open left cover, and remove the 2 screws and remove the smaller left cover. The scanner formatter can now be seen.

If above steps do not resolve problem, replace the scanner assy.

Scanner bulb warming up

the cables connected internally to the scanner unit had gone short some where in between you have to check it manually by opening the device .and then remove the cables and replace them with a same length cable.you can get the cables from any electronic shop who keeps printer assessories.

Scan head/carriage not parking in one spot -- keeps moving.

The scanner is having trouble getting its "white reference" usually due to dusty mirrors, but can also be the bulb losing brightness. These are not a easy machine to pull apart if your not used to it.

Good colour laser MFP, depends on volume of prints and remember colour dont come cheap, but dont use refill cartridges, Kyocera and Oki both have good Models

Hi, when you lift the cover where the flatbed glass is can you see the scanner trying to move back and forth? Also you might want to check and make sure the scanner lock didn't get moved to where the scanner just goes back in forth ? Are you getting any error codes?
