How do you switch out the tumbler in a key switch on a 87 Jeep Wrangler?

unfortunately without the key you cannot replace the tumbler without drilling. this damages the whole assemblywhich means that you do you have to replace the ignition key cylinder the procedure is to drill into the ignition key hole about an inch and a half with a 5/8 drill bit . make sure you drillr straight hole in the path of the key.after you drill the holethe whole cylinder will rotate and come outallowing you to replace it not sure if you can buy tumblers by themselves comes with the whole ignition cylinder with the tumblers inside of it

Spring fell out of car door latch mechanism

It is most likely broken/ You cannot get just the spring and since it is a critical part in the event of a crash, you should see about getting a whole new oem one from a dealer. If not you need to get the part from a salvage yard. The added benefit to a salvage yard is if you get to take it out. you know what to expect on your car.

How do I get the covering off the hatch from the inside? Outside latch will not open hatch. Looking to get at latch. Thanks.

Because there are several screws that you cannot reach, likely the best thi9ng you can do with that is use a hole saw and cut at least a 3" diameter hole about 6" from the bottom and a few (about 4") off center towards the drivers side of the latch location.
Most latches fail to work due to rust and usually working the mechanism by hand and using lots of wd40 or other decent solvent will restore operation. You will also need to secure the control rod that connects the handle to the latch as once rusted the rod generally falls off.
The inner cover is usually an easy item to locate in most scrapyards and shouldn't cost too much. If the latch is actually broken, you can find another there as well. (key tumbler is easily transferable if you need that part).

My 2005 chevy Avalanche tailget will not do you fix it?

I assume the tailgate is in alignment and hasn't been in an accident. If that is good, then probably the latch mechanism or the latches themselves are plugged up with dirt or rust. Liberally spray WD 40 on both latches and inside latch mechanism. Work the latch to see if that frees it. If not, then you likely have something broken in the latch mechanism or the springs in the latches.

My key wont unlock the trunk anymore but the remote opener does.

There is a cable that runs from the key cylinder to the latch mechanism. There are clips that hold the cable housing in place, and if one of those comes loose then turning the key just moves the housing without releasing the latch. Check the clip closest to the latch. To get the trunk open drop the back seat, crawl in, and pull on the cable.

It is also possible that the cable is broken or damaged and needs to be replaced -- I assume you will then need to replace the enrite assembly.

I put the key in the ignition and it keeps turning around not all the way but it's not supposed to go that far some one said i needed a new tumbler?

It may not be the tumbler. It may be a little aluminum actuator that is within the steering column that may have broken apart. Its a rather big job to fix as you have to pretty much take apart the whole steering column to get to it.
