Question about Yakima Skybox Pro Cargo Box

Open Question

Key tumbler fell out, then whole latch mechanism. I am assuming it is broken and can not be fixed?

I have the tumbler back in the latch, and two springs. Does not look like the mechanism has a way of staying in the socket anymore. I can put it in as to open it, but does not have any way of staying in.

The metal latch inside the door just fell out with a little spring and I don't know how to put it back in

Any repair on a door or door latch mechanism needs to be accompanied with a microwave leak test. So you'll have to buy a microwave leakage meter first.
I'd suggest you find an exploded parts view of the oven for a hint on how to get it back together. If it came apart on its own, though, there's a good chance something is broken in the mechanism.

Spring fell out of car door latch mechanism

It is most likely broken/ You cannot get just the spring and since it is a critical part in the event of a crash, you should see about getting a whole new oem one from a dealer. If not you need to get the part from a salvage yard. The added benefit to a salvage yard is if you get to take it out. you know what to expect on your car.

1994 Bmw 325i exterior Door handle broke?

the real problem is two fold first someone pulled with to much force, plus second thee science is there, but inferior oem parts are to blame ultimately, useing light weight steel components, and there would be no need to coment lol anyways,
when this latch breaks, the alloy material they use often breaks in several places.
to remove thee left or right outside dooe latch,
1)remove door panel,Window up

2)locate and remove the retainer clip

remove the three torq screws securing locking mechanism, leave in place remove outside latch trim (not reusable) plan ahead before removal if possible.

NEXT useing a pocket screwdriver find a spot to undermine the plastic trim, pop it off n you should see a large automotive antenna type nut remove it.back inside carefully manipulate the latch may be necessary to remove the vertical window support track, pay attention while disassembling, reassembly is the reverse.if you plan on useing ur exsisting key... theres a tedious but doable procedure to transfer your tumbler/lock assem. with old and new latch on bench.on thee base of the tumbler assem is a small drift pin holding holding everything together,(i used a 3/16 rivet) note be extremely careful bmw is not like other automakers_ - the tumbler can come apart if mishandled ,if that happens the lock is toast lol carefully tranfer old tumbler to new latch.u may need a mini pic set to allow tumbler pieces to mesh,
assembly is the reverse,

My 2005 chevy Avalanche tailget will not do you fix it?

I assume the tailgate is in alignment and hasn't been in an accident. If that is good, then probably the latch mechanism or the latches themselves are plugged up with dirt or rust. Liberally spray WD 40 on both latches and inside latch mechanism. Work the latch to see if that frees it. If not, then you likely have something broken in the latch mechanism or the springs in the latches.

Hatch latch broken

did you try some WD 40 in the key hole and then working the key back and forth gently? Even tapping the key hole with a tact hammer to giggle the tumblers inside after you lube it up may fix the problem. If this doesn't work then the next step is a new lock. You can buy replacements as long as you have the title to your vehicle and proof you are who you say you are. The Raz

Trunk Not Opening

With many cars you can go through the back seat in order to unlatch the trunk lock with a screw driver, though I believe the Sentra has a rear seat reinforcement panel that has much smaller openings. I read where you wrote you have the "same problem" though we do not have the ability to see what you have seen and made that comment on. If you please, let me know more specifically the initial problem that you identified with.

Regardless, if you cannot open the lock with the key, then the lock tumblers have probably failed. It is quite possible someone may have tried to break in your trunk, ruining the tumblers in the mechanism. You need to replace the trunk latch. It is rather unusual that it would have failed on your car - it is only 9 years old.

Trunk latches have varying degrees of difficulty with regard to installation, though if not mechanically inclined, a repair shop may not charge more than $20.00 to install. This is, however, simply a guess as to how much you would be charged. You would do well to spend some time with your local yellow pages. Price the lock through Nissan, and compare repair shops to Nissan's repair facilities.

Good luck, and thanks for using Fixya

My key wont unlock the trunk anymore but the remote opener does.

There is a cable that runs from the key cylinder to the latch mechanism. There are clips that hold the cable housing in place, and if one of those comes loose then turning the key just moves the housing without releasing the latch. Check the clip closest to the latch. To get the trunk open drop the back seat, crawl in, and pull on the cable.

It is also possible that the cable is broken or damaged and needs to be replaced -- I assume you will then need to replace the enrite assembly.
