I have a packard bell butterfly notebook with a built in webcam. When I try to start up my webcam software i get an error saying camera not found - this did not happen last week when i tried to use it!

This could be due to missing or corrupt Webcam drivers. To resolve the issue, uninstall and reinstall the webcam drivers. Later perform the below steps to make necessary changes in Windows to run the webcam:

We need to start or enable the services for camera "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)". Follow these steps.

1 Click Start
2 Type Run in the start search box and select it
3 Type "services.msc" and click on Ok
4 In the list, select the "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)"
5. Double click the "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)" service, and under the startup type select Automatic.
6. Click on "Start" button if it is stopped under Service status
7. Click on Apply and Ok

first check if your device camera is properly connected..... goto your system properties then hardware then you'll see device manager button click that one.doing so will display your hardware installed or connected to your pc.....check if there is a sigh in ? sign...

another step is by installing its driver for your camera. try to donwload and install its driver. you can typr and search your driver in the intenet and try to search that one.

Cannot get picts frm cam

first - check physical connection:
when the camera is connected to the computer through usb, the camera should be turned on, nothing will appear on the screen and you will see a flashing light from the camera signifying that it's "making a connection"

if, the camera screen is active while connected to pc, that means it's not making connection so check other USB port, like the back -it's more reliable as it's directly connected to the motherboard, not a hub like that of the one in the front of the tower

when it's showing a flashing light, check if the computer shows an "image transfer window" - that will appear if you are using Kodak Easyshare Software, if you don't have it installed, check if WIA (Windows Imaging Acquisition) transfer options will automatically pop up

If not please check this
rightclick on My Computer> properties> Hardware> device manager

1. check if the cam is a subcategory of the Universal Serial Bus Controllers -

a. IF IT IS, highlight it, rightclick and select Update Driver, select bottom options until it asks you to choose between "Kodak Camera" and "Digital Still Camera", select "Digital Still Camera"
now it will update then check if it would appear under "Imaging Devices" (if you have XP) or "Portable Devices" (if you have Vista)
a transfer window should appear using WIA, then follow prompts
a.1 if it created it's own category under Device Manager, open my computer, select your camera and it will act like a removable disk, so you can copy and paste pics

b. IF IT IS NOT, please check if it's under a Kodak Category (open my computer, select your camera and it will act like a removable disk, so you can copy and paste pics) or Imaging Devices/Portable Devices, righclick on your cam model or kodak camera> update driver, select bottom options and at the part where it asks you to choose bet the kodak cam and digital still, please select the Kodak Cam, then an Eeasyshare Software Transfer Window should appear (that's if you have Easyshare Software)

you can dl it from www.kodak.com/go/easysharesw

All of pics not loading into computer

This worked for my Kodak C913...from Kodak Support.

To switch between the Microsoft WIA drivers and the Kodak camera driver:
1. Connect your camera to your computer.

2. Turn on your camera.

NOTE: If the WIA drivers automatically detect your camera and display a window for transferring images. Click Cancel to close this window.

3. Open the Device Manager.

a. Right-click My Computer and select Properties.
b. In the System Properties window, select the Hardware tab.
c. Click Device Manager.

4. Click the plus (+) sign to the left of Imaging Devices or Universal Serial Bus Controller, depending on the version of Kodak software installed on the computer. Your Kodak camera should be listed.

5. Double-click on your camera model name.

6. Select the Driver tab.

7. Click Update Driver.

8. If you have installed Windows XP Service Pack 2 or above, your system displays the Hardware Update Wizard. Select No, not this time and click Next.

9. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click Next.

10. Click Don't search. I will choose the driver to install and click Next.

11. Select the Digital Still Camera for WIA drivers if you having trouble using the Kodak drivers, or select the Kodak camera if switching from WIA to Kodak and click Next.

12. Click Finish to complete the driver update.

13. If the program selection window appears, select Windows scanner and camera wizard
14. Select Always use this program for this action and click OK to transfer your pictures.

You may need to get the new WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) drivers. When you connect a digital camera to any laptop that runs WinXP, the OSmay not recognize the camera. If you download and install new drivers from the Web site, you receive the following error message when WinXP tries to detect the camera: "Windows image acquisition service error system cannot find file specified ‘imaging'." To fix this problem, you must first remove all current related camera drivers and reinstall the updated drivers.
