    dear sir,

    we r able to hear people on skype with our webcam but people r not able to hear us.we have changed mike also and all settings are normal but microphone icon is showing sign of mute even when unmuted .we have a compac presario laptop in which thisproblem has occured.please tell us the solution as soon as possible.all settings we have checked and unmuted.

    I have compaq presario c783U laptop. I am unable to record voice. Sound comes perfectly.
    Is there different driver for sound & mic????
    How can i soleve this

Hi, In cntrl Panl, go to sound & audio devices, there in VOICE tab, check(in Voice recording) if the system is using the exact sound device, then u can run the TEST to resolve ur issue.. let me know

If you're using the built in the mic that's feedback because laptop mics are low powered they have the gain boosted in Windows. Try using an external mic and check the setting on the volume settings for recording devices. (Right click the volume icon)

If it's a buzzing/squealing noise you're concerned about that might be "ground loop" usually caused by having the laptop plugged into the mains or less commonly having loads of cpu intensive applications running in the background.

Also if the laptop is on a hard surface make sure that it isn't vibrating because the mic sensitivity will pick it up and because of the gain boost it will be amplified.
Gain = Volume

How to configure a headset with mic?
Headset will have two pins .plug the pin initially
The green pin should be plugged to speaker and the red pin to the mic.
In the volume button select the advance properties and increase the volume of mic .sometimes it may be in mute if so un mute it.
Ensure proper drivers are installed and mic is detected i the system.This can be seen from the sound devices option in control panel .
To check whether mic is working try to record using the sound recorder which is present in system

I have a compaq Presario F761us laptop with a Conexant sound card. I use to have a internal mike, but now only the external plug-in one shows up. How to I get the internal one to register again so I can...
if u mean to say u plugged in an external mic then internal's not workin, then its a simple sound setting game..

Look when u plug in an external mic, the internal one freezes...

Now go to Control Panel,
Select Sounds & Audio Devices
Now select Audio
As u select Audio,
U'll see a mic icon.. Expand the tab & select ur internal mic..
Now apply it & click ok..
Now check whether ur internal mic is working or not.. I guess it wil work..

please check the settings from control panel->sounds and audio devices , there you can see voice-voice playback and voice recording.. , if not yet solved the problems, then you have to catch Service center
