Wel actualy my camera is working great but when I tried to put a san disk sd card or 2 gb wel then it goes bananas it turns on gets the lens out but nothing appears on the lcd screen. Plus I can't do anything with it it won't respond to any butons. And no liths at all. But whent I take the card out well everything is in order. But I want to have more memories then 9 pictures so why is it doing that since I bought the memory card in the same time as the camera and it is brand new 2 the camera and the card or brand new. Thank you Chela

I have NV7 ops camera, and the same thing happened to me.I tried getting into the settings to see if something was set wrong, the camera won't stay on long enough to do anything. I also try Samsung support and that was useless.

We have the same camera. Used only a few times, probably less than 100 photos and has a 1gb card. It was in its case in the drawer and when my wife got it out, it turned on once, lens extended and then went dead. From that point on, it does the same thing described by others. When you try to turn it on, the light briefly shows then goes out and the lens won't retract.

I agreed with Mark Sox. Cameras belonging to the S Series really do have a battery type option that needs to be set up first for proper power connection.

Recommended batteries are just:
- Alkaline (Non-rechargeable)
- Nickel-metal Hydride (Rechargeable)

Just the proper battery type by:

- Pressing MENU/OK button
- Scroll to the right until you are in SETUP 2
- Keep on scrolling down and look for battery type
- Press the right button to pick up on 2 options
like Alkaline and Ni-MH
- Press MENU/OK for changes to be saved
- Keep pressing MENU/OK to get out of the MENU

Once, it's done, camera needs to be turned off for a few seconds
so that settings made will be refreshed with the camera.

As you turn camera on, you're now ready to take many pictures.

ALKALINE (Non-rechargeable) batteries when set to the correct battery type will really take a maximum of 100 pictures.

For the Rechargeable batteries (Ni-MH), when those are fully charged, and the battery type is set to Ni-MH, it will be taking more than a hundred of course.

To explain about the lens that stuck out, it's lacking energy required by the lens to go back in since there is improper power connection if battery type was not set to the correct one.

About the SD cards to be used with this camera, those could be:
- MMC / SD card (Up to 2GB Guaranteed)
- SDHC card (Up to 4GB Guaranteed)
Some cards are not compatible according to the memory card
manufacturer and memory card type.

I hope this help you a lot.

Most S series cameras of samsung has an option to set camera under the proper battery type. you need to do it the first time camera is used so you can avoid future problems with it. the lens is stuck out because there is incorrect power connection. your camera may be under rechargable battery type setting but your using non-rechargable so there is improper power connection. to set this up do the ff:

-click on Menu button
-select options using left/right, up/down button
-select Set up 2
-Select Battery type
-Select Alkaline for non-rechargable
or Ni-MH for rechargable
-click OK button

hope this works.

Nikon coolpix s630, lens error, blurry, ticking sound

The following blog outlines some repair options for a lens error. They won't work for all cases, but they're worth a try if the camera's no longer under warranty:

Today, I was using it. Turned it off for a whle, went to ues it again & it wouldnt turn on, the power light was on & three beeps came out of my camera! It wont turn off until I take the battery...

Most probably the lens problem, it got stuck or it's damaged. Try to gently pull out the lens to see is it only got stuck or take it to service

Camera Stuck with lens out. Beeps

I dropped the camera on the table a couple of times, twisted the front of it. Suddenly the lens retracted into the camera, the beeping quit, and now I can take pictures again. The Samsung website is horrible.

Camera dropped and lens is stuck one day i tried to make a video on my camera but then it fell and now the lense is stuck and when i turn it on it wont come out and when i turn it off it wont close

this may sound drastic but, grab the lens and try manualy realigning. If you hear a grinding noise the lens assembly has to be replaced. Flat rate from sony is usually pretty reasonable. Hope this helps.
