If the problem is dust, you can try to blow it away. Else, take the camera to a repair shop, the sensor is very sensitive and can easily be destroyed...
Good luck! :)
Okay so you're probably first thing I would do is make sure that the batteries and charging is good and the camera has power and enough power to operate the second thing I would focus on is the memory card they can wear out they can go bad and they can break I would try different memory card I'm also attaching the manual for that camera make sure you get a memory card that belongs with that camera even though they look the same they have different speed ratings on the card from 1 to 10 make sure you have the exact and proper memory card it's made for that camera or it will not work http://cs.olympus-imaging.jp/en/support/imsg/digicamera/download/manual/zoom/man_sp550_e.pdf
Always check the batteries first but if is it still giving the same fault, your camera is faulty. "Zoom error" is repairable It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

I don't think the battery caused this problem. Try a known fresh set of batteries, then go into the camera settings and do a "restore to factory default" option. And, re-format the memory. If you are using a memory card take it out. Take out or put in AFTER camera has been turned off by the way. Hope that helps.
