How do I know the door switch is bad

If light stays on when fully closed, door switch needs replacement, easily removed. Short term fix, disconnect the switch and tape the two spades together. Warning! Dryer will run even with door open.

GMC Yukon 1999, parking lights stay on when truck turned off, why?

If you pull the 20amp park lamp fuse and the lights stay on, it almost has to be a short inside the headlight switch.
Will the lights go off if you unplug the headlight switch ?

Brakes light stays on all the time-even with the brake light switch disconnected

Since brake lights are normally supplied with chassis ground through the switch, the wire leaving the switch is grounded somewhere between the switch and the point at which the wire branches to left and right. The problem may be in a cable bundle and not even visible.

Brake lights stay on all the time . Checked brake pedal switch and it closes and opens as per reading on ohm metter, brake lights continue to stay on even when I short out brake switch connector.

This is the diagram. If you disconnect the switch, do they stay on? If so, you have another circuit feeding it (i.e. new radio or alarm installed maybe?)

Brake and/or taillights stay on

First, check the brake light switch, and if the high level light is on, the brake light switch is the likely problem. Even if it isn't, the bulbs could be burnt out. Anyway, disconnect the wire harness from the brake light switch on the brake pedal. If the lights go out, replace the switch. To test the light switch, disconnect the wire harness from that (with the switch in the "off" position). Again, if the lights go out, this is the problem. More likely, it is the brake one. This happened on my Dodge twice.

With the ignition off, the rear tail lights won't turn off

hiya if the rear lights are remaining on ? with no ignition it will be the brake lights staying on this is easily remendied/ checked by trypulling the brake pedal up by hand and see if lights go off ? if so then you will need to adjust the b/light switch which is positioned adjacent to pedal and can be screwed inwards towards the pedal untill the plunger on switch is pushed into the switch which puts lights off ensure pedal is fully up then adjust switch reconnect the wire/plug and press pedal slightly to ensure b/lights operate ok and then go off with pedal released ? on hyundai the brakelights do not req ignition on to operate hence more likely problem is as above good luck
