HELP, GE profile harmony washer wont drain properly

My ge profile harmony washer does not drain properly. We undid the hoses and its all clear however it seems the pump may not be functioning because it will drain into the pots but only if we do it by hand.....unlike the machine/pump doing it. Any thoughts? Is it the pump or can it still be something else?

I started a load like normal and left the room for a while. When I returned an error msg said that a problem has accured with the unit. I couldn't push any buttons it just beeped. The tub was still full of water and couldn't tell whether the clothes had washed or not. So i'm not sure when the problem accured. I tried to do a quick spin to drain the water and it made some noise for several seconds and then the error msg again. Please tell me it's minor!

Washer works well for a while then it starts this trouble draining again, give us a problem for a day or two then works. I get the error message, hold the pump test button for a while and occasionally it drains. If not I open and close the lid a few times and it will start to work after a couple trys. I sure would like a real fix for this thing......

mine constantly tells me the load is out of balance! All the time. It is getting ridiculous.

Same situation here. I replaced the pump (it was not sounding right), but even after that, it claims it is not draining properly. I've disconnected all three hoses (exterior, pump-to-exterior, and tub-to-pump), and made sure they are all clear, and also took out the pulsator and checked in there. The only thing left is to take the whole tub out in case there's a sock between the tub and the outer tub or something. Any other ideas?

My thought is that whatever is causing the problem, caused the first pump to end up burning out part-way, but I obviously haven't solved it yet, and I don't want to ruin another pump.

If you remove the tub to pump hose from the pump and try to turn the pump impeller by hand, it should turn freely. If it does not turn freely, then the motor could be seized and you will need to replace the pump.

Mine failed too. The pump motor has strong permanent magnets that will cause the motor to have resistance every 180 degrees of rotation, but that appears to be normal. I removed my pump and connected it directly to AC power, and discovered that it would only start on its own intermittently... it didn't always have enough force to overcome the resistance of the magnets. If I carefully started rotation with my finger it would run OK. So, it's time for a new pump.

Just wondering.....did the new pump solve your problem? We have the same issue, and are debating......new pump(cheaper option), or new washer. It seems this is a GE quality problem that is affecting a lot of people.

The GE Profile Harmony will not drain. It trys, but makes quite a rumbling noise.

Not an expert, but we had the same issue.....until our pump died completely. Limped along for a few years by unplugging the washer, and waiting about 20 minutes....then pump would work for awhile.

Now, our pump has died. With this quality issue, we are debating.....new pump, or new washer? Definitely will NOT buy a GE if we go that route! Good luck, it seems a LOT of people are experiencing this issue. GE should issue a recall!

Your pump might have something in it. I got a shoestring out of one the other day. Remove the front panel and inspect the pump.c8963d3.jpgbottom right of the photo is that clogged pump, The top does not pop up. The front panel comes off.

The GE Profile Dishwasher does not drain completely. The bottom drain shows no obvious clog and the screens are clear. The overflow drain in the back of the washers the only reason the dishwasher does not...

Uncouple the drain hose connection under the sink and use a wet/dry vacuum to **** out the drain hose and the stub on the sink drain plumbing to clear any possible clogs. There may be a blocked check valve near the pump that might have to be cleaned or replaced. Check the hose itself for any kinks or collapsed section. There might be a damaged drain impeller on the pump. Hope this helps!

We have a GE Profile Harmony washer, it just ran out of warranty in September. It will not drain, it had a message to check the drain hose there might be a clog. We did this the hose was clear. There is...

Along with checking the drain hose, check the drain port from the tub, something may be blocking the drain and no able to get into the tub, or it may be sucked into the pump.
What can happen with a fully loaded machine is, for example, if a small sock happens to be at the top of the load when the spin starts, it can be flung in between the inner perforated drum and the outer. If this gets down to the drain, it may block the drain hole and stay in the drum. It also could get sucked into the drain hose and stay there, or actually get into the pump ... My vote is that it's in the pump, if the pump is humming.
Give it another look.

I AM NOT A MECHANIC (THOUGH I WISH I WERE), BUT IT SOUND LIKE YOUR BELT OR MOTOR COUPLING. I DON'T WANT TO TELL YOU WRONG. I AM NEW AT THIS STUFF. I HAVE BEEN AROUND WASHERS ALL MY LIFE TO KNOW WHEN THEY BREAK DOWN AND NEED TO BE REPAIRED, BUT MY DAD (WHO DIED IN 2006), SPENT MOST OF HIS LIFE REPAIRING MINOR PROBLEMS ON WASHERS. GOOD LUCK.
