Question about Acer Aspire 5100-5033 Notebook

Lap top not going past password entry

I have a INSPIRON 6000 lap top, when I switch it on it takes a long time to get to the password stage and when I enter the password it just displays the desktop background.

when I use the Turn off it just says "Windows is shutting down..." and nothing happens.

 

Can this problem be solved?

Contact vendor and check weather the RAM is good

How old is your system?

Like Beni said, I would reformat where you basically erase everything from your PC and reinstalled Windows, if your reinstalling XP it can take hours to finish.

If you do decide to go with the reformat you'll need:
1.Backup all your important data(pictures,files,etc)
2.Drivers, this is what communicates things in your system, like your priinter will need a driver installed, you get that from your PC makers website, or the system came with a driver Disk. Your monitor will need  a driver.
3.A backup Disk for your operating system, this is just a disk that is the operating system your PC provider gave you one when you bought it, or some sort of recover disk.

Once you have those, let us know and we can tell you how to boot from your recovery disk, and get started with the reformat!

You need to repair it with original cd of OS

Go  safe mode with system administrator and from run + msconfig + startup and then desable all applications on start up

Take a multimeter, and measure the VOLTAGE and AMPERAGE being emitted by the AC power-supply. If "none", or much less than the ratings printed on the label, then it's time to replace the power-supply.

Otherwise, it most-likely is the connector where the AC adapter is plugged-in to the motherboard that is not transmitting, i.e., electrically-disconnected from the motherboard.
Maybe, resoldering the leads from the socket to the motherboard will fix the problem. Or, take the laptop to a qualified technician, for proper repair.

Connector not allowing charger to charge battery, loose in back of lap top
This will require either the replacement of the power connection by a competent board repair service or replacement of the motherboard

I recently upgraded the memory of my lap top but the operating system of my lap top is not recognizing the new memory. What can I do to fix this problem? My lap top is a dell Inspiron 6000
does the bios recognize the memory.... the first boot screen should tell you.. if not the memory is incompatible with your laptop...

I have a dell inspiron 6000 lap top I cannot
Press and hold the "Ctrl" and "F11" keys simultaneously when the Dell splash screen appears. The "Dell PC Restore by Symantec" window will appear. Click "Restore."
Just make sure you have saved all your data before doing that.

here is some simple steps for windows XP's--------password
but do it carefully

  1. Step 1 Shut down or restart your computer. While your computer is booting, press the F8 key repeatedly until the "Boot Menu" appears and you can select "Safe Mode." Once you select "Safe Mode," press "Enter."
  2. Step 2 Click on the "Start" menu and then click "Run."
  3. Step 3 Type "control userpasswords2" in the dialog box that pops up, and then click "OK."
  4. Step 4 Click on the account you forgot the password for and select the reset option.
  5. Step 5 Input a new password into both the "New Password" and "Confirm Password" areas. Select "OK."

To copy the contents of the hard disk of the Dell Inspiron 6000 before reformatting/re-installing a new/fresh Windows XP, try to:

  • copy/paste your important data from the hard disk of the Dell Inspiron 6000 to the hard disk of the 2nd computer.
