Need help to re-program Toshiba remote that came with MW20FM1
We discontinued using the cable box & cable remote. Now we have standard package 2-99 channels with cable connected to TV combo. Our Toshiba original remote (with new batteries) does not communicate with our MW20FM1 at all now. Until our manual is located, what is the procedure & code for re-programming the remote please? cable box needs connected to the antenna in on the vcr..the setup is ..cable box..vcr combo ..tv ..unless your tv has multiple inputs like ours..most of the new ones require a digital signal..it may reqiure a converter box..
But u still have and pay for the basic cable service wright?Yes,just used the tv remote and push the remote menu button than go into the tv menu,go into Setup enter and go down and pick CABLE not AIR.Enter for the tv do scanning for cables channels. After finish scanning u will get all the basic cable channels.
1. Connect the Cable Box via RCA cables (Yellow/Red/White) or Component cable if you have a HD cable box and select the appropriate input on the TV to view your programs. This will provide the best picture quality as well.
2. Make sure the cable box is on. Using the original TV remote type in the channel 03 and if this tunes to the channel then go to the TV menu and then go to Set up and then select add/erase and select add.
If typing 03 did not tune in channel 3 then using the TV remote select menu then go to set up and then make sure TV / Cable is set to cable then on the cable box press the channel button a couple of times and then select auto program on the tv.
First off get the TV on the right channel. It will either be ch3 or ch4. If you are using a cable box the dvd/vcr combo will have to be on ch3 or ch4 as well. OK, Make sure the input connector on the combo is hooked to the output connector of the cable box and the output connector of the combo is hooked to the input connector of the tv. Deal with one part at a time. First hook the combo to the tv and get the tv on the right channel (ch3 or ch4) so that you can see a pre-recorded dvd or video play. Then you will know what channel the tv is supposed to be on. When you find it don't bother the tv channel any more. Stop the dvd or video and hook up the cable box and turn on the cable box and set the box to a known good channel. Now put the combo on ch3 or ch4 with the combo's channel selector buttons until you see the cable box playing on the tv (remember you already set up the tv channel). Change channels on the box but don't bother the channels on the tv or combo anymore. You can put the box on whatever channel you want. The box will be your channel selector. I certainly hope that this helps. I know it can be confusing but don't give up. Just remember that the tv and combo have to always be on ch3 or ch4 (which ever one you found before). Good luck and thanks.
Some TV's have a 115 to 125 channel limit then will go to video in and then channel 2 and start over. Your TV's tuner may not have the ability to decode those channels. My suggestion would be to get a set top box (cable box) that can access channels. Your provider should have these or can suggest where to get one. Probably less expensive than a new TV.
If you are able to you can connect to the RF connector (F Type Conncetor) on the TV. This should work.
The layout is from the VCR (RF to TV) to the TV antenna F type connector from your Cable box to the Antenna in of the VCR that way you have cable through the VCR, and access to you VCR and DVD all controlled by the Cable and VCR remotes (set TV to Channel 3, set VCR to Channel 3) and use the Cable box as the tuner, Use the TV remote to switch between Cable and VCR inputs then use the VCR remote to switch between the VCR and DVD input.
What you need to do is take the remote, go into the menu, find channel scan and do a channel scan to find all the available stations available on this system. Make sure the TV set is in the cable mode and not antenna mode or you wont get any stations above channel 13.
