I dont have a remote and im trying to set up a digital tv antenna but the only channels im getting is 3 and all the video inputs. How to i program channels

Hello,

Usually channel 3 is picked up on a channel scan when there is an input device connected to the TV via a Coaxial Cable, thus using only channel 3 on the TV itself and using the Digital converter box to tune in the channels.

The TV will need to be Digital ready to connect only a Digital Antenna to it and programmed to receive the Digital Broadcasts over the air. If you are certain that this TV is Digital Ready (TV manufactured from 2009 to the present) you can use the menu button on the top, side, or front of the television, then use the channel / volume buttons to move around the menu, and the input button as the enter button.

You will want to select Antenna (ATSC) signal before starting the auto program so the TV will be able to recognize the Digital Channel Broadcasts.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Scott

Why won't the cable channels scan

Your TV will not get digital channels if you do not program the digital stations to your TV. You can program the digital channels by running a digital channel scan. The entire process is completed from your remote control and does not require any tools. This task only takes a couple of minutes to complete, and then you will be able to enjoy digital channels on your TV

Channel scan only finds 1 channel with basic cable setup on LG 42LD520

if you have a cable box just plug the cable box into a scart socket on the tv, switch the tv to the scart input and use the cable remote to change channel?Scanning for channels wont find anything because you are receiving the channels on a cable box. If you are refering to standard or digital tv signals and your not receiving any channels then either you are only scanning analogue tv and therefore wont pick up any digital tv channels, or your ariel is inadequate to receive an acceptable digital reception and will need to be upgraded. please state country you are in and what you are expecting to receive

Can't program digital channels only has analog option

If your TV does not have a digital tuner, you'll need a digital converter box.
After the digital switch in June, did you have channels then? If so just do a rescan.

My VCR not recording after the switch to digital tv signal

The answer to this question can get a little complicated. Lets tackle it in two parts. First the last part; the part about picking up channels as decimals. With analog TV transmission, it took the full television broadcast channel to transmit one standard definition TV program. The newer digital transmission system uses some advanced video compression and audio compression technology to reduce the data needed to transmit the pictures and sound which allows the same bandwidth to deliver either High Definition Television programming or MULTIPLE channels of Standard Definition programs. So in your example above, you use to watch one channel of programming on TV channel 4, but now the TV station can broadcast multiple channels of programming on channel 4, sot they delineate the programs with a decimal point. So 4.1 it the first program on TV channel 4, 4.2 it the second program on TV channel 4..... Well, I hope you get the idea.

Now for the hard part of your question. I believe that before the transition, even with your new digital TV, you were still enjoying the analog broadcasts from your stations. Your VCR picked them up and recorded them and your digital TV could tune them in and you watched as you had always done in the past. After the transition you noticed that your VCR could not record anymore and your digital TV had discovered the digital channels that replace the analog channels. To remedy this situation, your VCR will need the aid of a DTV converter box to tune channels, and you may have to reconfigure the way your TV and VCR are connected. The best resource that I can give your for the reconnecting is the website http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/converterbox_vcr.html. Cant program digital channels.

Nothing. Digital Tuners Broke. I wouldn't be suprised if your TV freezes up momentarily (or for a long time) when you switch over to the Digital Channels.

This TV has 1 tuner for analog channels and 1 tuner for digital channels. You can probably find the Digital Tuner on Ebay and replace it.
