Won't turn on

Its main system control memory IC is faulty. Replace it. It can be located very near to the main system control IC. Will look like this.Very cheap to buy, easly available.

It sounds that, the memory IC to your TV has damaged. This IC can be located very near to main system control IC. A very small one, with 8 solder terminals. Check the speaker wires for shorts, if okay! suspect the audio output ic's, the protection circuit won't come out of standby because there is a short.

Check for bad connections on voltage regulator ic, or bad voltage reg ic in power supply.

Most Sony's usually always have bad regulator ics. Depending on your model, could be a mcz3001 or str ic or mxoa ic. Check for 160v across the main capacitor for 160v to see if your power supply is working. Do not use chassis ground. Use the ground on the cap.

Its "Memory" IC has damaged. This IC can be located very near to the main system IC, will be a small one with 8 solder terminals. All the data we enter to TV is stored in its memory cells [memory locations], and retrived from it to main system IC as and when needed. Eventhough it is very small and very cheap to buy, its function inside the TV is great. This IC otherwise called as [EEPROM]. Just replace it. It will have a number printed on it; it is very important to note when you replace it. Insist on same number, otherwise the TV won't even switch ON. It can be had from most of the electronic sparepart shops at your town. OK.

The audio output IC has some troube with it. if it overheat, the fault you describes here will coccur. Normally audio output IC will be screwed on to a metal heat sink to radiate heat away from it while working. If the screw that holds the IC to heatsink get loose, proper heat radiation won't take place, IC will overheat with time and will shut OFF by itself. Check the screw first. Resoder all the soldeer terminals of that IC, by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge in between the adjecent solder terminals. This process will eliminate if there is any loose soldering junctions to the terminals of that IC. If these does not help you, replace that IC with same type and number. OK.
