I have this old oil filled radiator for many years. It used to be very hot. After thermostat broke I replaced it with a new one. Now radiator works fine but it does not get hot enough. Last year it used to be more than enough to heat up my small flat. Now you feel ok only if you sit right next to it. The rest of the flat is cold. The new thermostat has exactly the same characteristics as the old one. Did I do something wrong? Maybe I've screwed it too close to the body? I am thinking of a workaround but I don't know how safe it could be. I am thinking of putting something between thermostat and body (like a small piece of asbestos or other kind of thermal insulator) so as to fool the thermostat and make it work in higher temperatures. Would that be safe? Is asbestos a good idea or different material would be better? Any other ideas? Thanks (P.S. product is not DeLonghi, it's Nordica but it wasn't on the list)
SOURCE: DeLonghi 5108 Oil Filled Radiator no longer works?
The DeLonghi 5108 has no thermal fuse. There was a problem with the control panels and DeLonghi was to offer free repair. Details on http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml91/91108.html
which includes a toll free number.

Ditto same problem. Took it out of the box, plugged it in the electric outlet and did not turn on.
I tried atleast 5 different electric outlets to make sure nothing is wrong with the outlet. Tried changing the timer settings. No use.
Returned it to Lowe's.

Two 8 ft baseboards will heat this basement fine. You should eliminate any sources of flooding before you invest in refinished your basement.

SOURCE: Delonghi Dragon Two, oil filled rad trips the main elec fuse
If it is tripping the breaker in the panel, there is a direct short in the heater. Scrap it before it causes a fire. Seriusly
