I bought the unit roughly 3-4 years ago, I've done the regular convergence settings over the years but at one point it was really getting bad and luckily for me I had gotten the extended plan on it. I called a tech came by and used my remote only yo get into a different or extended menu to complete a more detailed convergence setting that I can't access. My extended plan will end in 1-2 years and wanted to know how I can do it myself instead of calling a tech who's gonna charge me for the service when my plan is over.

Re: How to do convergence on a PT-53WX53
Hello Yann, Please be advised that doing the convergence in service mode is a very complicated process. This could mess up your TV even more. The best TV tech out there finds doing convergence a Headache. Doing convergence is part of the repair that most TV tech fears. Email me if you still want it. I will not post here for the general public.

OK< likely one of the new chips are bad or when soldered in you shorted pins at that time----3 blinks is short protection and you are going to find ONE of the light blue 2.2 ohm resistors is open (usually discolored in middle).
Having changed hundreds of chips in this model once in a while you get a new one that is bad---replace both again.
How did you get at them----remove the board or pull the light box?
The 3 blinks of the power indicator is indicating that the set has shut down due to failed convergence. The PT53WX53 convergence repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com will usually solve that issue. The kit contains the two Convergence ICs , heat sink paste and the low ohm resistors . The kit also contains the CD with complete repair instructions.
LED 3 times blinks shows problem with convergence out section in TV and may requires convergence out ICs replacement.
If you are familiar with TV repair and can solder parts on PCB then let me know to provide you more technical info. Thanks.
The 3 blinks symptom is for busted convergence IC,you must replaced this IC in order that will works better again.STK 392-150ICs and it's associated resistor,this resistor automatically chagne value,can caused truoble even though you change the ICs.If you bring this to a service center they cost you $600 to $700,but if you buy the repair kit you can save more,don't wory it is very easy because there is intallation guide including in the repair kit. Feel free to ask whatever the result... click the link for sample picture guide step by step installation;
There is no substitution part for the entire board in that unit, but my question is why are they having to replace the entire board - did it burn?? How about just sending it in to PTS Electronics and having the board rebuilt?? http://www.ptscorp.com/
Replace Ic7001 and Ic7002 the convergence amps in this unit. Both are STK392-110 Sanyo built Ic's and fairly inexpensive. If you're not at all sure how to replace these take it to a qualified shop. And when you're calling around shopping ask what they charge to replace the convergence amps in these units.
Also take the unit to them rather than pay the pickup and delivery charge, that will save a few bucks.
Have a great day!
