My computer recognizes the mp3 player, I can even open the internal driver or whatever and pull songs out etc. but it WILL NOT CHARGE! I click "properties" in the My Computer window and see my player using "battery" for power at 63% and nothing about charging. there are 2 bars on the battery display and a gap for the 3rd. I haven't downloaded the firmware yet, kind of intimidated by it, so what do I do? Take the plunge or is the cord bad? Wrote to Memorex hoping for a solution. So to the common questions:
OS: Microsoft Windows XP
Recognized on the USB Drive? YES! (and shows on the display "USB Connected" or whatever)
I'm eeking out the 12 hours or so that I figure I have left on the battery, but what will fix this problem?

Im not sure if this will help... but i think most MP3's delete songs this way... Plug in the MP3 using the USB and go to 'my computer'. Click on the MP3 icon and then click on the files... simply delete them by using the delete button.

How do I remove songs from my digital audio player?
All you need to do in order to remove a song form your player is make sure that your player and computer are in the 'on' position. You will need the USB cables connected as well. Open a window's browser or double click on "My Computer" and find the MP3 player's drive. Locate the song you wish to remove right click on the song and choose the delete option.
Ok, try this
Go to Windows Media Player and connect your MP3. Then when you do that wait until it says Digital Audio Player on the left hand side. Click songs and then right clickthe songs and delete them.
go to memorexelectronics.com and then to support. You need to upload the current firmware for model MMP8565. I downloaded the firmware program and followed the instructions, it fixed all the problems I was having with the mp3 player. Make sure you follow the instructions carefully, it may get a little tricky if you are not somewhat computer literate.
Also, when charging, once connected to computer, hold the power button for approx 2-3 secs...the bars should start blinking at that time telling you it's charging.

i had a problem like that once all you have to do is format your mp3 player go into media player under the sync tab and click format only problem is that you have to put all your songs back on it again
wiggle your usb cord - I had to wiggle mine a bit where it plugs into the usb port in the computer before it was recognized and listed as a device in 'my computer'. only then did it actually start charging; if your computer is not recognizing it is plugged in, it may not charge.. when i finally figured this out, the actual charging of my 4 gig audiophase mps only took 10 minutes- previously i was trying to charge it for hours without any luck.
