F3 Error My GE Advantium SCB2001KSS oven (less than 1 year old) started beeping and displaying error code F3.  The only way I could get it to stop was to kill the power to the oven from the fuse box.  Any ideas what this code means and how to fix the oven?

Mine is approximatly one year old...just off warrranty. The repairman states it is a defective touchpad/control board. He stated that he has repaired many of these and that theeey are a problem on GE appliances. Sorry.

I have the same problem with my Advantium 240and it is very annoying.
Sometimes you can get the F# to go away by touching the cancel pad, but
it appears back after a few minutes. My oven is less than 2 months old.
For GE to be using these poor quality controls boards in an appliance
this expensive, is pathetic! Just like GE to do something like this.
Wish I had never bought this GE Advantium and stuck with a better brand.

My Advantium profile oven is only 10 months old and the F3 error message keeps appearing. My wife turned off the sound for the oven and pushed buttons until the message went away and that only worked for about a week and then it has started again. It continues to beep as I type this and it is quite annoying. Thanks GE. I thought your slogan was "you bring good things to life". The constant beeping is not so good.

F3 error message keep coming up, lots of beeping, advantium is less than 1 year in use.

  • rlmcappy Jan 25, 2008

Our brand new GE Profile Advantium has been used gently for only three weeks. This appliance apparently does not like us and retaliated by flashing the dreaded f3 error code and beeping relentlessly all night long until we figured out how to cut off its power source at the breaker box, which was apparently mislabled. We nearly turned off the refrigerator by mistake. Isn't this supposed to be a top end appliance? Calling GE repair now and eating cold breakfast.

Same problem after 5 months of use. F3, constant beeping. Was part of a GE Profile Double oven. Unfortunately, both are on the same CB, so I had to kill both ovens to stop the noise until the Warranty service folks could arrive....

...Except for the fact that none of the GE-authorized service providers will touch a warranty service call on this oven. They generally cited GE's bad reputation for paying service call claims in a timely fashion. After 3 months without an oven, GE finally cut us a check to replace the oven. Of course GE then found a way to get a GE-authorized service provider to come out and pick the damn thing up. Now I have an Advantium-sized hole in my cabinetry and a check for the cost of the now-gone oven (note: check does not include cost to ship or install a new one).

Mine is a couple years old and just started this behavior. On the advice of my salesperson, I cut the power for 20 minutes. When it came back, I tried to set the clock but couldn't. The dial would let me change the hour but then I couldn't push the dial to set the hour and select minutes. Not it is back to the annoying beeping/f3 message.

Does anyone know approx how much a new control pad costs and how hard it would be to replace one myself? I am already out of warranty so what the heck.

Our Advantium SCB2001KSS02 (mfg date Jan 2007 and installed July 2007) started the F3 error+beeps last night at 2:30am.  Powered off and restarted in the morning...now locked up and DEAD.  Will advise situation after the repair (which is 1 week away).  GE usually does not bring the correct parts to fix the problem then we're down for another week or more.  This is the first problem for this Advantium, but it seems all GE Profile units (except vent hoods) have some problem during the first year.

    me too

My oven was in use for 11/2 years before the dreaded F3 code and of course is now out of warranty. I am extremely angry over this. You would think that a product of this expense would be a better quality appliance. I am also wondering why there has been no recall on this defect. I had a similar circuit board problem with a 13 month old Maytag refrigerator which if I hadn't called to complain would never have found out that the board was defective and they sent me a new one. They also were not letting the public know of this defect. Where is the consumer protection?

  • mdamico18 Nov 15, 2008

I have the same problem. Last night at 11pm my GE profile started to beep and the displayed showed a "F3". I pressed clear and the error message went away until about an hour later when I awoke to hear more beeping. Like most everyone with the same problem, the only solution is to go to the breaker box and turn the circuit off.

Hase anyone had sucess with GE, that has an extended warranty?

as soon as oven reaches desired temp, it starts beeping and displaying codes F3 or F4.

If replacing the control panel is the solution, that assumes:

1. A GE-authorized repair tech will actually show up to do the swap, or you can do it yourself without voiding any remaining warranty clauses....and

2. The replacement control panel doesn't have the same defect as the original.

Has anyone been able to isolate the fault within the Control Panel? Why no GE recall on this item?

Have -F3- on the screen and nothing works

Hi,

**FIRST; shut off the breaker or unplug the unit before going any further please**

"F3" on most GE ovens describes a fault with the oven sensor or sensor circuit. Ohm out the sensor. It should read approx.1100ohms. @ room temperature.

The other possible faults are a bad solder on the control, a pinched or severed wire from control to sensor.

Having said all that, 99% of the time, its' a sensor. most common GE sensor is part # wb21x5301.

hope that helps

good luck

F3 code and beeping

F3 - F4 Open oven temperature sensor (circuit) (over 2700 ohms) or, shorted oven temperature sensor. Could be a result of:
· contamination on terminals
· pinched wire in oven temperature sensor circuit
· cold solder joint on control. · Disconnect power to range and remove oven temperature sensor connector from control.
· Measure oven temperature sensor resistance at oven temperature sensor connector (take care not to damage terminals in block) - Should read 1100 ohms at room temperature (approx 72 degrees F).
· Measure each oven temperature sensor lead from connector block to ground. If shorted, look for pinched or cut wire in oven temperature sensor circuit.
· Check connector terminals - Look for deformed or corrosion on terminals. Repair or replace.
If all above is ok replace control.

Error code f 03 has come up on our oven

I know what you mean. I was cooking with this appliance tonight and suddenly it displayed an f-3 code. My advantium oven is less than 8 months old. Not sure how this happened or how to fix the problem. In order to sleep tonight (the constant beeping) I had to shut power off at the breaker pannel. Is this representative of the the type of quality that GE stands for???? I am sooo frustrated. I cook with my advantium oven all the time and love the dual abilities of this appliance. Like I said this is brand new and to have the f-3 code which apparently (from what I read) is a failed key pad. I am very dissapointed and am begining to think about pulling my stock from this company!

Oven won't stay on and give an F error message

Disconnect the power. Disconnect the sensor harness from the control. Measure the sensor resistance (white leads). The resistance should be 1080 ohms at room temp. If the sensor is open the resistance is usually over 2900 and you get an F3 message. If the sensor is shorted the resistance is usually less than 950 ohms and you get an F4 error message. Also look for damaged harness terminals if not a bad sensor.
