Cutters not moving - Oregon Scientific Complete Carburetor for Stihl 4122 Brush Cutter and 4226HS Hedge Trimmer

The cutter mechanism connects to the machine whet the front is closed. If you look at the machine with the door open. You will see a finger coming out of the inside of the machine. If you turn the hand wheel it should move up and down. On the cutter mechanism there is a fork that fits over the finger. When it is all closed up it sould work together to move the cutter blade up an down. Is the cutter in the up position?

If I am reading this correctly, your answer may be that the cutter is designed that way for safety. "Auto-retracting". You find it in some utility knives that often store employees are required to carry so they won't "hurt themselves". Annoying, really. Try buying another cutter that is not an "auto retract"-- or get used to using your thumb for the purpose of holding the slide so the blade stays exposed.

maybe knife is too big for the serger.

If the cutter is not moving when the cutter motor runs, there is probably a gear loose in the cutter mechanism. Take the machine to the dealer that you purchased it from, or the nearest authorized dealer. http://webservices.us.vsmgroup.com/DealerLocator.aspx?Brand=Viking

Make sure that you have your warranty card and purchase receipt. If a gear has broken, the mechanism is warrantied to the original owner for 20 years.
If you are the second owner, or the machine was purchased online instead of through an authorized dealer, an authorized dealer will give you an estimate for parts and labor and repair the problem for you.

If you are having the same problem with both your old and new foils and cutters it sounds like there is a problem with the oscillator in the swivel frame. Sometimes the plastic oscillator inside will partially break and it can not vibrate under the load of the foil and cutters.

The front tension is too tight loosen it a bit this may help, if not you need to send it in to have it check if the motor is still working with full power. check Mannys-Sharpening.com They can help.

it seem that shunt arm that move the cutter blade is broken or off it's guide without look at it it's hard to tell what wrong, try Contact [email protected] they are a Wahl Dealer they have all the parts for Wahl clippers. they can help.

There are 2 blades, a fixed cutter and a moving cutter. The moving cutter should move approx 1/8" at it's lowest point past the fixed cutter. There should also be some pressure between the cutters
