I have a Gateway GT5662, I installed a ATI Radeon HD 5450 Video card. Everything was working fine after the installation of the new video card, no flashing power light or delay in booting. The flashing blue light started after I accidentally pressed the power button,(I had my legs crossed and my toe pressed up against it.) I pressed the power button to turn it back on. before it boots up, the light blinks 7 times with a soft click in between blinks. Other than the annoying blinking light, the computer goes into windows and I am able to do my computer work as usual. This has been going on for 3 months, I hope someone can help me with this.
Hmm. I wouldn't have thought it had anything to do with pressing the button. It sounds more like a failing power supply or lack of current for startup. Did you make sure you plugged the power into the video card power connector (if it has one)? I know it worked ok at first but a heavier load can cause older or under-rated power supplies to fail soon after. Just a thought.

is there a reset button on the power supply. if so try that. you might have accidently disconnected the hard drive cable. unplug AC and check all the connectors around the area where you installed the video card. make sure everthings connected. then before u close the case re connect the AC and check visually if the power is on and if everthings running.

a more powerful card may require higher wattage power supply than original

first try to connect another power source if it does work that is good then try the other options 1- rams 2- vga card 3- cpu 4- of course there is always the motherboard option....
i had the same problem several times mostly it is the power supply ( the power source ) sometimes gives a weak voltage or amps....

This is Nvidia's dreaded video chip cold solder joint problem. I have fixed many of these in my shop. Two choices, get it fixed or buy a new motherboard.
