    What video-setting (800-by-600, 1024-by-768) is Windows using?

Does changing that setting make any difference?

Is the monitor "old"? Has it always been this way, or is this something recent?

Is there any software within Windows to control your video-card?

Since this is a CRT monitor, it doesn't have a native resolution like LCD monitors. You need to adjust the veritcal and horizontal sizes to fit the monitor. On the front of the monitor there are some menu buttons. You need to open the on-screen menu, then navigate to the Horizontal Size and Position menu, use the plus and minus buttons to grow and shrink the image. If it's not centered, use the Horizontal Position menu to move it around. Use this same system for the Vertical menu and you can get your image to fit your screen. By the way, you should have your operating system running with a white (or light colored screen) up when you do this so you can see all the edges of your desktop. The buttons are tricky, but they kinda make sense. Good Luck!

Acer V223W off center

it happened to me. I changed computers but that did not solve the problem so it's not the video card. what did help was I turned off the monitor to reboot it then, using a different computer I reset the resolution to the lowest possible setting. when the monitor adjusted to the new resolution it reset itself. I then set it back to the higher resolution and everything was centered again.

We have a Viewsonic VX2235wm Black 22" Widescreen We have been experiencing a Grey shadow to the right - damn annoying. Can you please help.

There are "on-screen controls" (electronic) on the monitor and can adjust the screen "position" up-down, left-right, wider-narrower and perhaps twist; clockwise-counter clockwise).
Try that and see if it removes the grey (empty?) area.

My Hp mx70 monitor Will rendor the color green as black

Dear Killkerson,

As i understand from the situation, Please do the following:

1. First confirm that the problem is with the monitor. You can do this by trying this monitor on any other CPU. If the monitor behaves Fine, the problem is with the Video Card (Nvidia in your case). If the monitor behaves the same way on other CPU as well, i recommend taking it to nearest service centre. Please Do Not open monitors yourself (Some CRT's may have a possiblity of electrocuting people because they can store a charge upto 25000 Volts in Capacitors). Better get that serviced by authorised people if it doesnt work on any other computer.

2. If the above monitor just works fine on any other machine, probably the problem lies with Video card adjustment.
Please Right click on an empty place on your desktop and click on Nvidia Control Panel. (or you can go to control panel and try to run the same from there).
you will see that Nvidia's video card utility will open. On the left hand side, you will find (depending on the model) 3 basic options.

1. 3D settings
2. Display
3. Video & television

Expand the Display option and select "Adjust desktop color settings" on the extreme right on the top, you will find an option of "Restore Defaults." Click on that and close the utility. Check if that has resolved the problem.

If not, please try resetting all the options back to Default on the Video control Panel one by one.

I am hopeful that it will solve your problem.

Feel free to contact me if it doesn't solve. I will try to help you till it does.

Have a wonderful day ahead.

Regards,
Techno-Geek.

My scren is not showing my info bar on the bottom and there is a one and a hlf inch black line on the right of my screen and ahalf ince black line on the upper portions of my screen and my screen itself if...

You can adjust your display through 1 of two ways.
1. Somewhere on your monitor are buttons that allow you to adjust your screen position, ( left- right-up-down, widen / stretch in both direction, up & down at the same time & left & right at the same time. If you still have the manual for the monitor it will explain how to do this. Every monitor is not the same & each monitor has their own way to adjust monitor positions.

2. This might be a bit harder but all you'll need is youe mouse.
Find an emty space on your desktop, ( yeah I know it's messed up right now, did I mention this would be harder?).
I want you to right click once on your desktop & that will open a small pop-up menue. Left click once on Properties

You have just opened your display Properties. ( I need to mention just like the monitor adjustment screen is different from one to another, your video card will also be different.) My instructions should be close for you to adjust your screen.

So you have Display Properties on your screen. Click the settings tab, than click the Advanced button. Here click the Adapter tab. Look down & you'll see a button ( List All Modes).
Click it. The mode screen will open. There is a scroll bar on the right. Slide the scroll bar down & pick out the setting you want.
Most people use setting - 1024 by 768, True Color (32bit), 60 Hertz
Click Ok & than Apply. Your screen should adjust it's self.
If it does not, than someone messed with the monitor adjustments & you'll have to re-adjust from the monitor.

Good luck!

2 inch black on both sides of the monitor (Horizontal)

Hi Bj, Is it an aftermarket video-card? If it is, like ATI or Nvidia, Download the recent drivers for your particular card, Uninstall your Videocard from device manager, then install the software.

Black vertical belt in both side

This sounds as if you havent got the correct resolution of your desktop. Either there will be an auto adjust button to press on your monitor menu or you will need to Right click on your desktop>properties>settings Tab and change resolution to 1024 x 768 or similair to change the desktop size, or maybe reduce to 800 x 600 then click apply.
