Screen blacks out on HD channels

We have a 42" Sharp Aquos. We are having problems with two of the HD channels. On one channel (NBC), the screen continuously blacks out when in HD. When it is the local broadcast that is not in HD, the picture is ok but has lines across the screen, but in the full HD, it continuously blacks out but the audio is still there. On the other channel (CBS), we get lines in both modes, but doesn't black out as much. Does anyone else have this problem? We had the cable company come out and got a new digital cable box, but after trying everything, they said it had to be the TV.

Saying that the problem is with your TV doesn't make any sense since your TV is fed from the cable box.  Your TV doesn't know one channel from the next.  If it had a problem it would effect all channels.  You may not have enough signal to the INPUT of your cable box due to a problem on the pole or at your house or both.  Insufficient signal can cause some digital channels to not get decoded properly by the cable box.  The lower channels will show noise symptoms such as what you describe but they won't crap out altogether like the digital ones.  Have a cable tech come out and measure the signals.

Do you have splitters in line with the cable anywhere?  If there's any way to beef up the amount of signal getting to the cable box try it.

I have s Sharp Aquos tv. Screen blank on Hd

It sounds like there may be an issue with the HDMI input on your Sharp Aquos TV. If you are only experiencing the issue on high definition channels, it is possible that the HDMI input is not able to support the higher resolution of HD channels. To troubleshoot the issue, you can try using a different HDMI cable or a different HDMI port on the TV. If the issue persists, it is possible that the HDMI input on the TV is faulty and will need to be repaired or replaced. I would recommend contacting Sharp customer support for assistance with this issue. They may be able to provide further troubleshooting steps or assistance with repairing the TV.

There is a 3-5 second delay between the channels when you change them on these particular tvs and there is no way to change that unfortunately.

Can't view local HD with built-in QAM tuner on Sharp Aquos LED

I found this solution at ehow.com and it works: http://www.ehow.com/how_5417083_hd-channels-comcast.html. You'll just have to switch over to another input to view the HD channels.

Sharp Aquos 42 in screen was black when we turned it on. Remote will only turn tv on and off, will not control inputs or channels any longer. i think i may see a little white line at top every now and...

I can try to help you with the problem, but you have to clarify the situation a little bit. First of all, give me a model number of your TV, and second of all, do you have anything displayed on the screen?

Help with Sharp flat panel tv

I can only guess that the NBC station signal is drifting or weak causing a loss of audio. It is possible the tuning chip inside the TV has a problem with that frequency but not very likly.

Turn off closed caption on input(component) on Sharp Aquos 42"

I have a Sharp Aquos 46" and go a Comcast HD receiver as well, and had the same problem turning off the Closed Captioning. I order to turn it off you need to go into the box user setting by (starting w/ the cable box and tv on) pressing the power button for the cable box then the menu button for the cable box. This will open up the user settings menu. Just toggle CLOSED CAPTION to DISABLED.

Blink on Sharp Aquos LC-32D43U

If your using a HD converter box, there is usually a blink when switching from an HD channel to a non HD channel. It is just adjusting from different pictures modes such as changing from a 480i channel/show to a 1080i channel. If this is the case, its perfectly normal.

Size of screen

If you have black panel os sides the picture is not HD. Not allways the HD broadcasting have HD shows. The advertising for example is not HD. Check the picture size in the tv to be "allonged" and play with the screen size with your cable box remote. Usually is # button.
From what I know LC42D62U has no TV Guide feature.
