How will i know the sound card of my pc? i have it reformat. now i donno how to identify my sound card..

Many name brand companies will supply the common component drivers on their website. If you look up your system model then you should at least be able reduce the number of cards you are looking for.
There are various freeware packages that claim to identify the unknown devices, but I find sifting through a handful of drivers from a manufacturer website is much faster and more reliable.
If the computer was custom built then their should have been provided software discs or information to identify the card. On board sound cards can also be identified by visiting the motherboard manufacturer website and searching for the board model. A list of drivers is typically available and even more refined than common manufacturers of systems.

I have toshiba laptop model no SATELITE L15-S104, my laptop sound is not working pleae guide me.I check my all setting are ok.If you have any helpline no please give me. Thankig you Praveen Pandey

Check your headphone jack. If you get sound to your headphones but not your speakers then more than likely your speakers are bad and you can order those online relatively inexpensive. However, it sounds like your drivers might be missing or corrupt. Check for viruses, spyware, etc. Go to and go to their support section. There you will find a drivers download section. Fill in the information for your laptop and download your sound drivers. Install your drivers and reboot your computer. Good luck!

No sound

I'm sure you have tried most of these steps but I'm going to list them any way. So we have a complete picture of the trouble shooting process.

The first thing to check is that the speaker wire is connected to the correct audio input. On most computers this is the light green port.
The next logical step would be to check the device manager to see that the audio drivers are operating properly. The navigation to the device maniger differs depending on what version of window you have. The most common way to access it is by right clicking on the my computer icon on your desktop and selecting properties. Then click on where it says device manager. in older versions of window you will have to click on the hardware tab before you will see the device manager option. From here you'll want to look for the sound or audio icon and click on the plus sign to the left (The sound icon looks like a small speaker). If there is a exclamation point or a red x over the driver listed than you will want to reinstall or update the audio drivers. You can locate all drivers required for your computer from the manufactures web site. If reinstalling the drivers does not work you may need to replace you sound card.

I hope that information above has helped is some way.
If possible please rate this solution.

Go to the manufactureres web site (you don't mention the make so I can't direct you) and find what you need under the 'support' tab.

You could also go to the MS Hardware compatability list and look the device up ...make sure it is supported by XP ... you will find lots of driver information on that list.
