I have recently switched my T.V. on and the sound is heard but no picture is on the screen, instead i have a green screen with lines through it and two faded colours of blue on the left side of the screen and red on the other.
The tv has also started to power off intermitently
the TV is about 5yrs old
Any ideas
As you see green screen with lines through it lines you are seeing is called retrace lines. the problem is due to green video output section failure please check the followings as given hope this will help. good luck.

When using digital tuner with antenna there is green screen when "no signal" and when signal present picture is excessively green.
Picture is OK when using input from analog tuner or external DVD/VCR, etc.
Audio is OK.
RCA help says it's the antenna input.
I adjusted antenna, checked connections, rebooted TV.
This problem only occurs when video is from digital tuner.
I have not checked antenna matching transformer but that would also affect analog tuner wouldn't it?
My son's tv does the same thing. When I turn it on it is green with lines across the screen. Sound seems fine. After a few seconds, the tv turns itself off. I cannot access menu or change the channel or AV.
