More than likely, the nozzle (small hole where the fuel is sprayed) is clogged and needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: reddy pro155 runs for 3 to 5 seconds

Reply with the correct model number. "Pro 155" designates a series. We need to know whether you have a heater with a spark plug or a heater with an ignitor (glowbar).

SOURCE: my salamander reddy heater runs

To start with the air pump pressure must be set with a gauge. The air pump pressure is directly related to fuel delivery. There should be a label on the side of the heater designating the psi rating. Get it set right- don't guess.

Once the pressure is set and the heater is still acting up as you described, and I believe it will, because it sounds you are having an electronics problem. But if the unit starves for fuel the photocell will shut the unit down because it can't see a flame. If brought to my shop I wouls perform the following steps in this order:

  1. Set the pump pressure
  2. Check the fuel filter for a restriction.
  3. Using soapy water check airline & plastic cover for air leaks
  4. Troubleshoot the photocell
  5. Troubleshoot the Ignition Control (transformer)

Reddy Heater Pro 125T: Motor runs, flame ignites briefly, then shuts off with a "Flame" fault light and needs to be reset. But I have done ALL the troubleshooting.

Apparently the photocell needs to see a flame of the correct colour or it will shut down so the nozzle and spinner has to be in very good condition - diesel might be clean but is the inside of the tank clean?
The fit between the spinner and nozzle is so very close it can stick with very small particles.

Can't speak for the Reddy Heater but a bad spark transformer seems a very common problem with that type of heater - ensure the spark gap is correct.

Runs than shuts off after a few seconds

Is this a propane or kerosene heater? If it is kerosene, check your fuel, clean your tank and start with fresh fuel. Check your fuel filter/air filters at the back of air pump. Make sure your ignition system is working.

I have a Reddy Heater 70,000BTU without a thermostat. It will flare off and within a few seconds the fire goes out and then the it trips out. After a few tries it won't even flare off. What might be wrong?

hello. Your reddy heater is dirty and needs a good cleaning. Also, here are a few other possible reasons why it won't operate properly. Pressure not adjusted to 5.1 psi, dirty outlet filter, clogged inlet filter, bad or dirty photo cell, defective reset switch, pump going bad, dirty injector nozzle, dirty fuel filter, contaminated fuel. Check yours out and do what you can to address each area of concern. Regards, Joe

Pro 110, runs 10 min., blows white smoke ,shuts off

the first thing you need to do is go back to useing K1 kerosene, diesel fuel not only burns dirty but also has a tendency to gel up in cold weather which could be makeing it hard for the heater to draw the proper amount of fuel. To reset the pressure you will need a gage, it should run at about 6-7 psi. you can order a pressure gage from mr. heater online, they are by far the cheapest I have found as they are the actual manufacturer or call 1-800-251-0001

I have just purchase a kerosene fan force (reddy) space heater ,we use it in a very drafty garage, but the strong smell of kerosene fumes are more then we can stand.we have tried scent additives but nothing...

Try running it outside where the oxygen level is 21%. Carbon Monoxide will kill you The smell might be the product if incomplete combustion CARBON MONOXIDE, or the fuel line pressure needs to be adjusted.

If you still get the smell the unit may defective. If you want to try adjusting the fuel line pressure, you will need a low pressure gauge 0-15 psi.remove a plug from the heater and set the pressure at the documented pressure, the other plug with the hole in it is the adjustment.
