Question about Kenmore Elite 45986 Front Load Washer

He5t tearing clothes

We have a Kenmore Elite HE5T Mod 110 47791700. About 5 years old. It is now starting to rip/tear clothes. We think clothes are getting caught in rubber gasket. Sears came out and couldnt find any problem. Said everything looks good. Wife is upset that clothes keep getting ruined. Is this fixable or buy new machine?

Are you sure that the clothes are not getting caught on exposed zips.

Why not load some things like towels sheets (without zips/buttons etc) in the washer and see if the issue repeats itself. You should also be able to see if there are any sharp edges or loose sharp items in the drum (mind your fingers)

The ripping happens mainly on loads that are all towels or sheets. Occasionally, it happens on other loads.

If this has a paddle,check it for a sharp edge,also make sure it is not loose, the top cap should be able to be pulled off to see the locking
bolt,and you can check to see if it has loosened.

Feel everywhere on the inside of the washer for a edge that might be catching your cloths. You can also try the gentle cycle and see if it does not rip them.

You did not post the model# ,so I have no clue what style it is.

F35 is a water level error.
The water level switch (pressure switch) has malfunctioned.

If you remove the top panel, three screws in the back, you will have access to the pressure switch.

With the tub empty, remove the vinyl hose from the switch and blow backwards through the hose to clear any restrictions.

If the fault codes return after doing this, you will likely need to replace the pressure switch.

Also - please be sure to use He soap.

F35 is a water level error.
The water level switch (pressure switch) has malfunctioned.

Kenmore Elite HE5t does not move the wash drum or go into spin cycle.

The drum bearing is likely frozen up.

Kenmore Elite HE5t washer - Door is hard to open and close

It may be sprung in the hinge or there may be a tiny piece of debris causeing the door to hang when being opened or closed.

I understand you have a He5t Kenmore washer with the pressure switch "no longer made"...yes this has been a problem I know...they've revised the componets and aren't compatable...what they were thinking I don't know !

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

Kenmore Elite he5t sounds like a jet engine getting ready for takeoff during the spin cycle. It is extremely loud. Not sure why it all of a sudden started doing this.

Ahh yes, hopefully it's less than a year old. This is likely the main bearing located within the plastic tub. If it has sounded like this for quite some time, you will need a few new parts. The plastic tub (or "tub kit") and the stainless steel drum (which includes the shaft that the bearing rotates on). When did you buy it? If its under a year old, labor will be warrantied with the parts, but the parts themselves should be under warranty as they have a 10 and 25 (or lifetime) year warranty each.
Good luck! We just had this fixed, but now have a new problem. the front button panel will not light up. :(

I have Kenmore Elite HE3 Front Load Model 110.5862400. The rubber gasket/bellow got wadded up with clothes and popped out along with the clamp. How do I put back together. There is no damage but I don't...

Inspect the bellow and the front and rear clamps to ensure they are not damaged. If the bellow has any rips or tears, it must be replaced or it will leak.
