Managemylife com I want to use the self-clean function on my Kenmore Model 790. The manual says (p.17): "Once the Self-Cleaning cycle has completed and the Door Locked Indicator light has turned OFF you MUST unlock the cooktop before the gas surface burners will operate." However, there is no information about how to unlock the cooktop on this model. On Range Features (p. 6), there is an indication that there is a display for a Cooktop Lockout on "some models." It is not on our model. How then do I unlock the cooktop after the self-clean cycle is complete? Does it unlock automatically?? Directions are VERY unclear. Thank you for your help.

From the manual:

To turn the Cooktop Lockout Feature OFF:
1. Press and hold (_ until "CLO" appears (Figure 3). Continue holding
until a second beep sounds (after 3 seconds). I_1will disappear from
the display indicating the cooktop may be used normally (Figure 4).
Note: Starting a Self-Clean cycle will automatically turn ON the Cooktop
Lockout feature. The cooktop will remain locked until the Self-Clean cycle
has completed and the oven door has unlocked. If a power failure occurs
after the Cooktop Lockout has been activated, you must turn OFF the
Cooktop Lockout feature before being able to use the cooktop features
again.

SOURCE: After self- cleaning my Kenmore

This may be a silly question but, did you just try turning off the circuit breaker for a couple minutes to see if it resets itself when you flip it back on?

I need to know how to get a manual for a kenmore ultra bake self cleaning super capacity oven can you help me

Many Kenmore manuals are available from the Manage My Life site: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals?intcmpMMHxG_HomexServices_Menu .

You will need the model number - there are over 9,000 ovens that come up when you search Kenmore Ultra bake self-cleaning super capacity oven. Most of the Kenmore ovens have the model and serial numbers on the front frame. (Left front of the frame on the lower oven on a dual oven model - just open the door and the panel should be visible.)

I hope this helps.

My self-cleaning oven has been on for 2 1/2 hours. Is that too long? If so, shouldn't it turn off automatically. Please advise.

If the model number you listed this question under is correct, the Clean cycle time NORMALLY takes about 4 hours and 20 minutes. You can adjust the cleaning cycle time between 3 hours and 5 hours and 59 minutes, using the HOUR and MIN pads. Once the cleaning cycle is complete, and the oven temperature cools to a safe temperature, the latch can be opened.

These instructions are listed on page 24 of the owner's manual. If you no longer have an owner's manual, you can obtain a FREE copy at managemylife.com. For your convenience, here's a direct link:

How long does self cleaning take?

Self clean mode can vary between makes and models of kitchen ranges, but it usually averages 2 to 4 hours. Once the self clean mode has been started it cannot be stopped until it completes the cycle and cools down. The oven door will lock and will not unlock until the internal oven temperature cools as the oven will super heat to about 700 or 800 degrees. Some manufacturers will enable the consumer to vary the self clean cycle time. Refer to your owner's manual under the Operating Instructions for specifics.

If you no longer have an owner's manual, you may be able to obtain one on line at managemylife.com. Just type in your model number under the "Manuals" link and see if it is listed. They have an extensive list of owner's and installation manuals available in a .pdf (Adobe) format that you can download or print for FREE.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Self-cleaning oven doesn't work on Kenmore electric oven

I suspect the timer is involved in this process. It can be set to clean automatically. You need to set the complete time at least 2 hours after start.
