Intermittent signal problems from cable(?) over many months on Time Warner network. Got new SB5101u cable modem - did not solve problem. Area TW service always seems good per their tech support. Cable tests good from pole to house. No splitter involved. No box in house-cable is direct to modem. Modem logs show errors R0055.0, R004.0, M573.0, M571.1, R002.0, R001.0, etc. Many techs visiting over time find no problem.
Check the connectors on the in-house cable, if they can move in their sockets slightly, they may become intemittent as temp and humidity changes. If you can replace the cable with a new one of a known brand. If not try pushing cable plugs all the way into each socket and surrounding the plug with Blu-Tak to stop any slight movement. If this does not work, check or replace the power supply for the modem, it may be occasionally dropping its voltage, due to other power demands within your house. A good quality power supply will keep a stable voltage for your modem.

Sounds like a switch before the signal gets to your house. Modems usually don't go out intermittently unless they are overheating. Is the modem in a ventilated area where it can get some air? An alternate is to borrow a modem from a friend to test it. Usually one of your niehbors will have the same service and the same modem. I had my surfboard (from comcast) for 5 years and it was solid as a rock, the spotty services was always at the Comcast switches (at the street or the nearest hub.
Hope this helps
SOURCE: Dear forum-freinds,
Hi,
If you say the lights are going out on the modem when it boots you off the network then the problem is your modem and not your internet connection, if the modem is new take it back and have them swap it for another one.
Regards.
SOURCE: Modem won't work thru splitter
actually modem will only send and recive signal through direct cable feed it will not work by spillter, but dont worry there is device avalible in the market which will help you to connect the modem directly and also act as a spillter too better go the shop from where you brought this modem and describe your needs they will help you.
