1 qt oil every 1000 miles

1 a simple compression test will tell you if the rings and valves are bad. thats where you start.. 2 it could be an oil leak under the vehicle , you will see a black spot. do this first it only takes a look whee you park it on dry clean pavement or place a clean piece of cardboard under it.

oil comsumption varies depending on how hard and under what circumstances you ride, but you are losing more then normal.
my 06 Roadking only uses about 1/4 Qt. after 2500 miles of hard riding and I have the VO2 high flow breather from V&H

Is it really burning it, or just losing it? If you have blue smoke coming out your tail pipe, and oily black spark plugs, there's really not a whole lot you can do about it short of a rebuild of your engine. It really sounds like a rear main seal leak, or a faulty oil filter.

Anything over 1 quart in 1000 miles might be considered excessive. It probably is not gaskets unless there is a leak. If there is a leak there might be a puddle of oil on the ground where you park it. If there is a puddle or drips of oil look at valve cover gaskets, oil pan gaskets, crankshaft seals , etc.

harley recomends that you use their oil but i would be carefull because it is a cynthetic now if you were using regular oil what that will do is clean all the old build up out of the motor this can be bad because after time there are pin hole leaks that occure but the build up stops it from leaking but if you use cynthetic you cant go back to regular oil it will gum up on you and ruen your motor so you got to find out what has been put in it. but use a 10-30

5w30 is comon, sounds like its got a few km`s on it , chech tailpipe for oil deposits, it may burn but you dont see it that easy

call a tire shop or the dealer for the exact tire size. The oil has to be going somewhere. If it's not leaking it's burning. check the plugs for oil, ck for mixture of anti freeze & oil mixing together, if it runs hot/ overheats it may be a head gasket. Or a crank or cam seal that's leaking only while driving. Have it checked, the system is supposed to be sealed.

What's your miles between changes?1500 to 2500 miles 1 qt. aint bad.Are you injected?do computer thing for ign/timing and air/fuel settings.If you're carb do jet cleaning and check float bowl setting.Check that float isn't leaking[full of fuel].Check plugs for good color and look for black residue in rear pipe,signs of bad air/fuel mixture and bad burning plug[coil voltage].If your carb doesn't have float check setting of rod that operates the fuel diaphragm.Do computer check for ign timing.Yea, if the plugs are oil fouled then forget what I said bout oil consumption.Baby it till winter and get top end done.Don't worry,2007 is too new for a top end.General tune-up should fix you up.New coils maybe.
