Problem with Vista and MP3

I have the new windows vista, and I cannot seem to be able to play my MP3 on my computer. I plug it into the usb port while it is turned on, and the options menu comes up, and it will not allow my to play my MP3.
I go to the hard drive and click on the removable hard drive files, and none of my songs appear. all I see is my recording file and WMPinfo. none of my songs. but they still appear on my player after uplugging it from the computer. How do I fix this?

Windows vista does not acknowledge Opal M4002a

If the player is not recognize try to connect the mp3 player ona different usb port and check if it will be detected if still not detected better connect this mp3 player to another pc and check if it will be detected on that second pc if not detected there's a possibilty that the mp3 usb functions is not working fine.

My new Vista Home software does not recognise my mp3 when plugged into a usb port. I have run the small CD that came with player.

-- what is the brand and model number of your mp3?
-- have you check if your mp3 is compatible with windows vista?
-- have you tried installing it on a diff computer?

Update software complatible with windows vista

Ever since vista dropped alot of support files for simple thing like Creative's older model Mp3 Players, try going to creatives website, and look in the support section for a driver update for VIsta.

Vista and firewire 1394?

Firewire works fine under Vista, but it's quite possible your USB to Firewire bridge doesn't have proper Vista drivers. You wouldn't expect Vista to include these, they would be installed from a disc that came with your adaptor. USB to Firewire is a questionable option at best... there are often problems with it. You may be better off with a PC-Card or ExpressCard solution, if the laptop is your only computer.

Also, when the camera says "DV IN", it's expecting video from the PC to be sent to it, it's not in capture mode. Most camcorders must be in either "play" mode, or a special "link to PC" mode in order to even be recognized by Windows (any version) as a video input device.

However, until you resolve the issue of supporting your Firewire device in Vista, nothing the camcorder does will be an issue yet. You should check the documentation that came with your USB to Firewire device, the driver disc, etc. for information on Vista support.

Not detected by computer - cannot recharge battery

yay I found a solution! so I kept getting the error about an MTP device, so I did a big search. I am running vista on a 32 bit processor. what you need to download is the MTP installation programme from windows. so click on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939211
and then just select what processor speed you need. should do the trick! I also downloaded http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A2E73160-E862-4F19-BB26-C0CAFE798955&displaylang=en initially, but it didn't appear to work. hope that you all get to the bottom of this frustrating problem :)

Change to MSC mode to use with Windows Vista.
Q: How to change to MSC mode:
A: On your Sansa device, press "menu" and go to "Settings" then "USB" choose "MSC".

Then plug it in. My computer finally recognized it.

Won't Upload Songs

player has problems with windows media player 11. works with wmp 10. player also has problems with vista. firmware was designed for xp. no firmware updates available. you can try dragging and dropping through windows explorer, treating it as a usb mass storage device. it will play folders and songs this way. to get vista to recognize it, format the player through the player's menu ( set-system-format ) not through the computer. take out the battery for 15 minutes. reboot your computer. put battery back in. plug into usb port. hopefully vista recognizes it as usb device
