I charged the Ipod one night and went to use it the next morning and it would not turn on at all. I have tried holding down the menu button and settings button for ten seconds. I have also tried to toggle the hold switch, to no avail. Any suggestions.

First make sure that your iPod’s hold button isn’t on. This is the little switch at the top left corner of the iPod video that you can move to “lock” the iPod’s buttons. If this is on, you’ll see a little orange area at the top of the iPod nano and a lock icon on the iPod’s screen. If you see either of these, move the switch back and see if this fixes the problem.
If the hold switch wasn’t the problem do the following:
Move the hold switch to the on position and then move it back to off.
Hold down the Menu button on the clickwheel and the center button at the same time. Hold these together for 6-10 seconds. This should restart the iPod nano. You’ll know the iPod is restarting when the screen changes and the Apple logo appears.
If this doesn’t work at first, you should repeat step 4
Try a reset: Press and hold the wake/sleep button and the home button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple logo should appear on the screen. Release the buttons and it should work like normal. Hope this helps.
This happened to me to. I was listening to it when I arrived at my destination, and I thought I turned it off and I put it in my pocket. Later that day when I went to listen to it, it wouldn't turn on at all. Aparently, it had stayed on. Hold the pause button for five to ten seconds. The apple symbol will appear on your ipod. Immeadility put it in your docking station before it goes away. Your ipod will turn on, and itwill start charging.
Have you tried holding down the menu button and the middle circle button?
first place your ipos somewhere flat and press down the circle button and the menu button, make sure your not touching any other part of the click wheel.hold them down for about 5 seconds untill the apple logo appears.then let go,and it should be back to normal.you can use this procedure any time that it freezes or stops working.Hope fully that should fix your problem.if not i suggest you get it repaired under your warrenty.
First make sure your hold switch isn't on. It's on the top or bottom and slides
back and forth. It needs to be switched to the left. Once it is to the
left, here's how you reset:
You can reset your ipod by holding down the menu and select (round
button in the center) buttons down for at least 10 seconds. You'll see
an apple logo flash, that's when you stop pressing the buttons. It will
shut off, then back on.
DO SOLUTION #2 ON HERE. HOLD DOWN MIDDLE BUTTON AND MENU BUTTON AT SAME TIME FOR ABOUT 40 LONG SECONDS. WHEN YOUR FINGERS START TO HURT...YOU KNOW...I WORKED FOR ME...MY IPOD WORKED FINE EVENTHOUGH LOW CHARGE. THEN IT JUST SHUT OFF. WHEN I TRIED TO CHARGE IT, IT DID NOTHING, NOTHING ON IPOD, NOTHING SHOWED UP ON COMP. I TRIED THE 40 SEC THING AND IM BACK UP...THANKS GUYS!
