Remove the battery and only hook up the ac adaptor and see if the laptop acts normal. If it does then either your battery is defective or the power is so low that it can't get enough juice out of the battery.

Keep in mind since you cleaned it out, only have the AC adaptor hooked up to rule the battery out. If the laptop stays on with only the ac adaptor hooked up and doesn't shut off then you know that the battery is faulty. If it still shuts off even with just the ac adaptor hooked up then it could be the ac adaptor.

Also check one more thing, with only the ac adaptor hooked up, wiggle the cord where it plugs into the laptop and see if the laptop shuts off, if it does then the dc jack on the motherboard is loose and needs to be resoldered back into place so it stays put.

It might be over heating try opening it up abd cleaning it out. if that dosent work you might need a new power supply, or bios update.

Dell inspiron 1520 won't turn on.

Remove the battery from its compartment on the side of your Dell Inspiron laptop computer.

Remove the power adapter from its plug on the side of the Dell Inspiron (if your laptop is currently plugged into a wall outlet).

Press down and hold the "Power" button on the laptop for one to two minutes. This will dispel the excess electrical current that is built up inside the laptop.

Put the battery back inside the compartment of your Dell Inspiron.

Plug your power adapter back into the side of the Dell Inspiron. Press "Power." Your laptop computer will now turn on.

hope this helps

I have a dell inspiron 1150 when i connect the charger the battery and the power light keeps on blinking and nothing happens oh turning the power button

Sounds like the adapter is being overloaded ... Dell is one of 2 or 3 manufacturers using a 3 wire adapter plug jack. And ... well ... lets say they can be problematic ... it's a great system but very sensitive to battery malfunctions. I suggest you remove the battery then pug the adapter in ... if all is OK then have the battery checked

I have dell inspiron 1100 with 6450 MAh battery which is death already, i am looking to buy new one, before doing it i would like to get some advise what is the difference between 4400 MAh, 5200 MAh, 6450...

MAH is short for Milli Amp Hr...
4400MAH battery - short time for the battery to discharge....it may work for 4 to 5 hrs....
7800MAH will work longer for say 8 to 10 hrs.....

also depends on what applications u use...if it contains many graphics and you keep watching movies then the working hrs gets further shorter....
hope this clarifies....offcourse...the 7800 will cost you more...than the 4400....
as far as what is suitable to you laptop check the mfg website or the manual that came with the notebook...some times...the power adpator also gives the battery specifications that must be used...

let me know...

I have a dell inspiron 6000 laptop When i press the start button the power lights stay on for about 5 seconds , then it switches off again. I dose not seam to engage the the operating system I would like...

Check that your power supply/AC adpater is plugged in and working. It could be that you are running on the battery only and if the battery is drained, it tries to start then shuts down again.
