U have a Factory audio auxiliary amp in the truck, the radio is just a head unit with a preamp feeding a main amp, that is behind the right rear 1/4 panel trim panel in the cargo area, if your new sound unit has preamp outputs use them, other wise u must wire around the Ford factory amplifier.

Sony xplod stereo wiring diagram

Yes you need to turn on the BOSE amplifier in the car to hear the sound. The wiring diagram is actually on top of the factory radio
You will need a 12v trigger to turn the amp on. this is assuming you have all the speaker (inputs) connected to the output from your new deck.

Battery on 98 Ford Expedition doesn't hold charge

First thing I would do is have someone qualified disconnect the alarm and stereo and start over.
Chances are you have circuits cross-connected and something is draining the battery.

I have a 1998 ford explorer 4 door. bought it with stock radio removed and would like to replace it with stock radio. i have no part no# but there are 2 connectors one is long and thin(grey) with 6 wires...

The one with six wires is probably the power of the last radio and the one with 9 is the one for the speakers.
I would really recommend an after market radio as in this day and age it will probably be cheaper and more efficient. It will play mp3, bluetooth, you can hook up your iphone etc.

You will only require to get a wiring harness for the make and model of your car and you have a hot new sony, kenwood, jvc etc. A 13 year old radio may not work for you.

Installing an aftermarket stereo in 1996 explorer...sound issues.

You may have a factory amplifier in the rear of the explorer in the right cargo panel. You need to supply power to it by connecting the amp power on (Blue/White I think) in the dash to a power source (such as red on your stereo harness) so it comes on with the key. If you do have the amplifier, that's why you have no sound.

1998 ford explorer eddie b, key will turn car won't start

Check to see if the battery cables are tight. Or, check to see if your terminals might have some corrosion around them. If it's not either, than it might be the battery needing to be replaced. And, if that isn't it, try your local auto shop and ask them.
