This happens to me very occasionally. Shut down the computer completely, unplug the usb cable from the computer and reinsert. Unplug the usb cable from the printer and reinsert. Switch on the printer. Start up the computer.

I had the same problem. Restarted the printer. Reinstalled the drivers. Scratched my head ... nothing! then I moved the printer away from the wall - problem solved! I can't say that this will work for you but if everything else is working, as it was and still is on mine then it's worth a try.
What I didn't realsie was that the cd tray comes out of the back of the printer when it's checking the alignment. I had inadvertantly pushed the printer back, too close to the wall. Moved it forward slightly and it's fixed.
Hope that solves it for everyone.

Install the SSC Ver. 3 then reset your printer. If pls. give me your yahoo messenger ID. And I tell what to do with that.

Replacing the pads is costly, messy and requires the printer to be taken completely apart. If you have little or no experience of stripping down printers it is best left to a proffessional. Contact Epson to find your nearest service centre, but remember to get a quote as it may be more economical to replace the printer. Sometimes the counter can "jump" to the end of life number, this especially happens where 3rd party or refilled inks have been used. If you believe this to be the case and there is no sign of ink leakage and the pads look fairly clean then you can just reset the counter using special software called the SSC utility. More information about this issue and the "official" Epson resetter is available from the Epson web site, please read this link:

Please take a moment to rate this solution. Thanks.

You actually need to change the ink absorber.
Heres a video on how its done on the R800.
Please refer to your manual for proper localization of the ink absorber.
Doing this will get you to move on
