Question about Palm Treo 700w Smartphone

Treo 700w Often when I make a call the my phone will connect on my end, but the person I am calling hears nothing. I must hang up and try again.

Have the same problem I can hear other people they cant hear me. Also trying to get Palm and or Verizon to help out with this problem is way to much of a process and is a pain. This is the second timne I have had this problem.

I have the same problem and it is soo annoying! It happens when people phone me or when I phone them. I can hear the other end perfectly fine but they can't hear me. They say it sounds like a fan or rushing water. They can't hear one word that I say. Sometimes it happens 5 times in a row.. sometimes I can't even use my phone for that day. I know my mute isn't on. The only way I have been able to combat this is to answer my phone with the hands free ear bud device.

Mine does the same thing and I am not pressing mute. Mine happens about every 3rd call and Noone seems to know how to fix problem. I even tried a soft and hard reboot. Any ideas?

Depending on how you hold the phone this could be the answer you are looking for since your problem only occurs sometimes. see how you hold your phone as you put it up to your ear where is your thumb you might be pressing on the lower part of the screen. this will mute that call. causing you to hear them but they will not be able to hear you. next time you make a call and the other person can not hear you look at the screen and see if the picture of the mic in the lower right hand corner is greyed out if it is press it and it should work. I know this answer sounds silly but it happens to me alot.

this gets to be a common problem for cell phones...

try having a software flash, if nothing happens you can use bluetooth or a headpiece, or you can purchase a new phone

maybe if it is under warranty you will get a free or reduced replacement

Have you tried a Master Reset?

Hold the red power (end call) button, take the battery out, replace the battery. You will be prompted if want to reset the phone with Up for yes, and Down for no. This is how to completely wipe the phone to the state it was when you first bought it. Please make sure to have any custom applications and data on the device (other then data that comes from outlook) backed up. When you resync it to outlook, your contacts, emails, calendar etc will come back.

If after a master reset, the phone does not power on, then you will need to get it replaced, as this is a definate sign that the mainboard inside the motherboard is bad.

Hard reset will do the rest....are you sure it's brand new?

Treo 700w doesn't ring when called

Increase the phone volume. You'll get a ding for missed call from the PDA volume side, but the phone volume controls the ringer volumes and voice features... Access it from the buttons on the side or with settings menu.
If the volume is already maxxed, try updating the firmware on the device. You'll need to have the phone attached to a PC via USB cable, download and run the package. It'll wipe out your address book and other data on the phone though so make sure you have this backed up or can replace it.

Handling Two Calls

Actually, if you hang up on the two calls, the one call isnt "really" hung up on. Example:

Bob hasa treo and is talking to Phil & Jane swapping back & forth. Bob says goodbye to Phil and hangs up and both calls appear to get disconnected. Jane's phone never hangs up. A few seconds later, BOb's Treo rings again... it's Jane. But to Jane, it's the same call. She was never disconnected. Bob just clicks answer and he's back...

No internet access with palm treo 700w

Sad to say - you need to go get out your phone bill and call Sprint - they may need to fix their end of the internet connection. They often disconnect services you have paid for and can't use. In any case their tech support is pretty good. They can also reset your password and let you know your text message address.

Phone connection issues

Well, I get this from time to time too and am embarrassed to discover each time that it was my Bluetooth device in my car I was standing next to that locked onto my phone and took over of my mic and audio features of the handset.

It is possible that your Bluetooth features is turned on and locking onto some device that you, at the time, are unaware of. That may be the problem on your end or your friends end as well. Try turning off the Bluetooth feature on both phones to see it it solves the issue.

However, if you hear them but they can’t hear you maybe your mic has a bad connection inside the ph case... once open you can clean the contacts with a pencil eraser and bend the mic contacts up a little and reassemble. You can remove the mic from the ph case and take it apart to clean it, but note the location, orientation and mark the side you can see of the black contact base that is snapped into the rubber mic holding boot. The mic looks like a small watch battery when removed from the rubber mounting boot. It is easy to get it all confused and out of wack if you do not mark things and or even take pictures of it before removal. Unless your ph is really old and you have a very dirty mic opening or know of spilling coffee in it or the like, cleaning the contacts may be all you need to do.
